Yes, I was just thinking that actually. The Miss Universe contestants of the 80s were highly sophisticated and elegant epitomizing on the qualities of femininity and grace. These days, almost every contestant has got fillers or botox put in, and seem more brash and manufactured. Does this reflect the passing of time where values have changed, expectations and mindsets have evolved for the woman of 2020 to be confident and outspoken, to be assertive and strong?

@@prukputtayot1472 The audiences has changed, too. Before you will only hear clapping as if from a well mannered audience. So classy. But, these past few years, the new generation of audiences seem to have become rowdy, and unruly at times. It looked like a sports event, instead of a beauty pageant. Just my own observation. 😉

Antonio Vasallo I agree with you. When Thailand got the second Miss Universe, I was about 8 and still remember the moment. Nowadays is so different but I also like it anyway.

I would never forget this song since I first heard it in the 1987 Miss Universe pageant which was held in my home country Singapore. Loved the innocence and beauty.

Removing this beautiful song and the little sisters from MU pageant was a HUGE mistake.

This song is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and how wonderful it was to have the little children sing it. Every time I listen to it I cry because they no longer use it or the little sisters. Little girls need role models they can look up to today and this was one way to do it. Thank you for sharing such an inspirational song and one that will live in my heart forever.

Un clásico hermoso del MU...tampoco hubieran cambiado la corona más emblemática de la mujer más bella del mundo...ojalá no hubiera llegado la modernidad al certamen.

This is magnificent! I absolutely love this masterpiece. I still remember when it was first used in 1987 up until 1994 as the main song for the evening gown competition (1995 when it was used only at the introduction of the evening gown). I really miss the classy, gracious, and majestic era of Miss Universe. Thank you for creating this masterpiece!

Thomas, this song is iconic in pageant history and I miss the Little Sisters evening gown parade so much. They need to bring it back for the 70th anniversary of Miss Universe and invite you as a special guest. Just beautiful, and such a poignant tribute to your dad.

So nostalgic. I missed the little girls walking with the contestants. Sad this part is not in the recent years anymore

Thank you...I wrote it for the little sisters...it is an homage to my father who passed away as I began to write it...I believe he guided me...

Thank You for such a beautiful song that continue to melt our hearts. The death of the composer’s dad passed away before it was used in Miss Universe. That made it all the more special to pageant fans. We are all lucky that we witnessed the Golden Age of Miss Universe. Good day to all.

So much music and songs have been used in the Miss Universe pageant ( and i mean good songs like Panic at the Disco which rocked the stage at MU 2013 or Lady Gaga MU 2008), but this by far remains the best and probably the most beloved for those among us that lived the 80's and 90's , a classic.

Soy de Venezuela y les digo a todos los chilenos que ésa fue una corona más que merecida. Y una reivindicación. En Singapur se hizo justicia y se puso todo en su lugar luego de un fraudulento Miss Sudamérica realizado apenas semanas antes. La misma Cecilia, a quien dejaron inexplicablemente en el último lugar en ese certamen, le habría dicho a la prensa en ese momento: “Yo era la mejor”. Y con toda razón.

This beautiful song was last used in the 1994 Miss Universe held in Manila, Philippines. Although there were Little Sisters in Miss Universe 1995 held in Namibia, but they did not use this song anymore.
