I lost $2000 recently in a defi wallet by moving to another. Same as you described. Really hurt me. I'm no newb either. This is why crypto will never go mainstream. Entire system is exploited by scammers top to bottom. Safer leaving it all on an exchange unfortunately. Also: I'm completely out of defi forever. Will only use trustworthy exchanges and cold wallet. Never going back.

That is the point - they had sent crypto to "that address" before. Often the software or the interface are very poor and/or _glitchy_ or even *crashy.* I have seen it on nearly all. Yes, they should confirm the FULL address - character by character. It would even be best if the interface would "lend itself" to a quick and accurate, visual verification check - or even some other check. I suppose this is why Exchanges (centralized or even decentralized) and mobile devices only show the first and last 4 characters (if that). At some point they may develop a better (verified) way... some day, some one may learn to code, for real.

I am sure they did. Address poisoning makes it look like the address you are sending to are the correct one. When transacting any meaningful amount you absolutely have to check letter by letter. Use a ledger too. It isnt immune against address poisoning neither but it got an extra layer of security.

I would use a wallet where we can send to anyone using their PHONE NUMBER (for example). BTW, in Portugal, BANK TRANSFERS will be available using the PHONE NUMBER registered on the destination BANK account (this will be live this summer and will even give users the NAME of the destination BANK account holder)
