Love both the leaf (Canadian so yeah) and the pumpkin. Painting is lovely when it's loose and freely applied, just chuck the rules and paint! Have fun and enjoy the process is what I tell people when they want it perfect.

I have loads of DAS, and I’m a bit of newbie. I found it harder to work with than polymer clay. It’s figuring out what you want to create, and watching videos or look up ideas. This helps when I’ve tried it. There truly is so many projects you can make. I live your 🎃…

Oh, man, I have a package of terracotta coloured DAS clay waiting, and it was meant for something else, but now I'm tempted to grab my flashlight and go pick leaves outside in the dark and make little leaf dishes. 😂 These are both super cute. You could varnish the dishes and maybe add something in the back to support them (fabric, card or something), if you wanted to make the more durable, but they are lovely just like this. ❤

So fun! Air dry clay was definitely an under rated art. I'm out of resin, I'm out of eco pour, but I still have a hunk of this exact clay so why not!! Claire thank you for the inspiration I think my kids at school will love this too!!

I don't use any kind of resin. I wish I could but I don't have the money to buy supplies. As for air dry clay, I've only tried it once but I'm way too impatient to wait for it to dry. Polymer clay, however, is where I really used to shine, along with different kinds of jewelry making from wire wrapping, chainmail and heading. Ever since I got carpal tunnel syndrome, I haven't done much crafting at all, unfortunately. It's sad. I craft vicariously through you and others that I watch. 😅👍 The pumpkin turned out very pretty! 😍

If you want to increase the stability you could add glassfiber to the clay. Haven't done it myself but I keep seeing it getting used in concrete and wallplaster. Maybe it will work in clay, too..?!?!?

Leaf me alone,its not fine art. Use a big fluffy brush and smush ( smoosh ) it...Its ok -- loved it. You certainly have the knack xxxxx

In college, I took a clay class as an elective. I really should break out the tools I used way back then and hook up the air brush and make a spraying center. ❤ this pumpkin and leaf. 🥰 would make an awesome ramekin if using food components. Could make the leaf larger and curve it to cover it and fit securely.

@@ClairesCraftyCorner it’s a class you take for extra credit. Off the beaten path of one’s minor/major. Kind of breaks up the heavy duty classes. My brain works better when I’m creative. Found the major classes easier after the creative class. Lol 🥰

I love this Claire! Could you poor silicone over the dried clay (before painting) to make a trinket tray mold for Jesmonite?

DAS clay is nice, but if you're going to be working with kids, it can be pretty expensive. I'd recommend making up some batches of cold porcelain - a homemade clay that is pennies compared to the dollars of DAS and it is air-dried as well. I've used it for many things and I really love working with it, especially for creating life-like flowers...Try it, you just might find you like it. Blessings!

It is fun! You can make fine and delicate items as well as larger and bulkier ones. It will also shrink a bit, but it holds the detail so well. You can find recipes online, and I heartily recommend that you give it a try. :)@@ClairesCraftyCorner

These are beautiful, I teach art at the senior center, and I was wondering if you could use plastic bowls to dry on? Would it stick? Or should I find metal/tin bowls? ….Also can we work on a shower sheet or plastic table cloth? Or should we just use the fake wood table tops and wash them down after? I’m not sure it would work on plastic and I don’t think we can work on glass…These would be lovely crafts for the seniors they would enjoy doing this! Also wondering if you could do Christmas pieces similar to this, and what would they look like?
