I met him at a convention in Paris and the man broke my heart lol I was so impressed and asked him very gently to draw me Aerith on my book ( it was my turn in the waiting line). He looked at me for 2 secs and then turn to her translator and asked her in japanese "who is Aerith?". I was like😭 the translator was also surprised he didn't remember lol it was so awkward. She said "but but you know AERITH"... And he was like " oooh" he draw me a quick sketch and a moogle lol. I keep them forever ^^

To be honest, FF7 sketch was roughly illustrated by Amano because Nomura take the illustration later. Amano basically redraw Celes but with more magic 😅 and Sephiroth was look like Setzer. So yeah, Amano might not come up with Aerith name because of that. You should come up with WoL or Terra.

I really miss Amano's influence on in-game FF art. He had such an exotic style that would translate beautifully to today's HD visuals. There'd be nothing else like it, really, not even contemporary Final Fantasy. I miss the Tibetan and Hindu type jewelry, color patterns, and outlandish armor designs contrasted against the traditionally masculine and feminine character body designs of his mid to late '90s art.

There are three people Final Fantasy can be thankful for: Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu, and Yoshitaka Amano. Hironobu's vision created a legacy that has seen success, Nobuo created some of the most iconic songs, and Amano's title work is legendary. I can appreciate an Amano piece of art, and his work on Vampire Hunter D is among his best. His art stands out as among the most distinct in the world.

I really want Square Enix to make a Final Fantasy game that brings Amano's art to life in 3D. The technology we have is good enough to do it unlike in the PS1 era. They uploaded a video for FF15 called "The Big Bang" that took an Amano painting and made it 3D.

8:54 is how I've always wanted a remake of something like FF6 to look. Take Amano's artwork and make it "flesh". No hyper-realism like the FF7 Remake, but use what we all imagined those pixels represented, what the box art conveyed. Seeing Edgar and Eiko and Queen Brahne in these 3D models true to his art shows it can be done. Make it so Square (unfortunately the company is a mess and will never do it).

My intention was just to ask for art tips but while he and his translator discuss what I said something got lost in translation. He approached me and grabbed my sketch pad and then he proceeded to sketch "Vampire Hunter D "on it, at the same time telling me in his broken english what he does to get ideas for inspiration. My jaws dropped in surprise and was utterly grateful for what he just did. I now have an original Amano art in my home. After telling my friend that was with me at the time , what just happened. He then got himself a sketch as well. Amano is such a generous person.

Thank you for this vid. Fantastic. Amano is my favorite living artist and has been for almost 30 years. It's been great watching him grow artistically. Amano ... Wow what can you say about this guy? He has basically been brilliant his entire career. I wasn't aware of just how talented he was at such a young age so thanks for mentioning that. Makes sense. He was already making big moves regarding his future when other people are simply trying to make sense of themselves. He knows where he's goin and he knows how to get there. Talent always finds a way. What impresses me about Amano is that he has the work ethic, direction and motivation to go with his talent. When all these things come together, good things happen. The dimensions of his art sometimes borrow stylistically from Klimt and others but he always finds a way to make the art his own while always maintaining his unique vision along with his professional principles which include hard work, dedication to his craft and his efforts to continue growing as an artist. I'd say it's worked out pretty well for him! AND US. Then there's his artwork... man o man. It's hard to describe how amazing it is to get lost in an Amano landscape. There is attention to nuance and detail that isn't really overstated. Masterful. A lot of his work seems kind of subtle in its sense of engagement, imo. Once you see art from Amano you never forget it though. It's not flashy at first glance but the subtle sense of confident poise in his art, relaxed figures, unique color schemes and sense of movement work at you long after viewing it. There is something spiritual about the sense of composition, or me. I'll be looking at a piece of his and then all of a sudden I'm in a different place. It's no different than listening to a piece of music that takes you somewhere better. People sometimes complain about the placidity of facial features in Amano's work but it always seems like the characters are both serious and contemplative in how they are drawn. This adds drama and internal dialogue to the scene. There's something so pure about the way his artwork seems to flow on and off the page. The character forms seem like they are almost in movement because of the exaggerated contours and sweeping pencil lines which mark his work. There are quite a few little embellishments in his work, clothing patterns, little squigglies, pencil outlines etc which have become a sort of signature. His final fantasy character and concept art is legendary but I like how this video draws upon the fact that he's more than that. My favorite works of his are probably from Neil Gaiman's "Dream Hunters" series. Particularly "The Sandman". It's a fascinating story that draws on eastern influences in a western writing style. Highly creative, highly imaginative with leeway for interpretation. Gaiman and Amano coming together just might be about the most glorious an amano nerd can hope for.

Oh wow! I've only heard about this today but it is so exciting! Amano's artwork are some of my favourites and it would be great to see it in VR. My favourite logos are 8 and 10. 8 was very romantic and different to other FF logos. I love the detailing and color scheme in 10's logo.

It should be noted that Amano is a supporter of the LDP - to the point that he drew art of Shinzo Abe and his cabinet as samurai - despite the fact that they oppose everything that would make Japan better and are among the reasons for many, if not most, of the country's problems.

I’ve never seen another artist who could capture movement quite like Amano. All of his pieces look like they’re moving. Even static poses somehow have movement in them. Not to mention his ridiculous use of color and patterns, his style of art is truly his own. One of my all time faves for sure.

I wonder if Araki redesign has influence from Amano, some Jojo covers look a lot like FF illustrations, ofc I know the magazines influence him a lot as well, the woman who draws for Castlevania also has a lot of Amano feeling imo, could be a coincidence as well

I always dreamed that the Final Fantasy games, when the time was technology allowed, would be artistically directed by Yoshitaka Amano. These 3D models of his works show that it is possible and masterful. The reality is that the series has become very generic on an artistic level, except for a few details (oddly enough, those that come from Amano's art). Square should consider this.

When I was younger, I was rather dismissive of his artwork (and yes I know that was very stupid for teenage me to do). But, over the past few years, as I've taken up drawing and wanting to make something of my own I've become more and more enamored with Yoshitaka Amano's artwork, right down to trying to find books containing nothing but his artwork. There is truly no other talent like his. Also, the music in this video is pretty gorgeous and fitting. If only you could direct us to where's it's from.

He’s been my favorite artist for decades and his work on VI has made it very special to me. A remake based on his work would be amazing, much better than a ‘pixel remaster’. SE needs to stop being lazy and going for the quick buck.
