I hate it that sherif gassed himself out in the first by throwing big shots early in. Something outside of the ring must have happened in order for him to not properly prepare.

Yes while the other guy rushed in out of control he had a good counter

You could tell that Mohamed thought that Akiyama was an easy opponent to defeat and that he could just easily charge him to finish him off. Akiyama had great patience and just worked at chopping down his legs until he could find the right blow! Hopefully, Mohamed learns from this fight that you never understimate your opponent!

Him charging like that for the most part seems to be just his pure lack of skill and inexperience against higher level opponents. He seems to not have the basics of even throwing & winding his punches correctly when he charged. Akiyama might be old, but his superior experience and skill still made up for it.

😂 he's basically a slugger, with no real boxing training.

As soon as Akiyama survived the first few flurries, then landed his first hard leg kick I knew it was all down hill for Mohamed from there

Less than an hour ago, I never even heard of Akiyama. What a human machine! I am not a fighter, but it feels as though I learned a lesson from this man. And, dare I say, if I had a body like that, I would not be fighting, I would be on the beach. Akiyama the Master!

I can see you're a casual from what you say Akiyama is a veteran with career both in judo and mma. He is known and criticized for being a dirty fighter (like using too much Vaseline to avoid getting grappled) and also for having beach muscles which are not exactly functional

Sounds like the commentators couldn't really see what was happening either. Akiyama's boxing defense was almost on point after getting clipped at the end of the first blitz. The rest looked so easy to deal with for him.

Mohamed almost only fought against novices for his wins. But that may be because MMA is probably just really niche in Egypt. So he essentially is a can crusher. ONE loves to keep a healthy supply of these guys around ..... Can crushers are almost always the same: They either win on sheer physicality or have a degree of grappling prowess, that most beginners don't (or any combination of the two) .... and that's typically about it. Since they just fight absolute beginners or complete chumps, these can crushers almost always pick up really bad habits, that work against their subpar competition ... but fail them miserably, once they run into anybody, who knows what he is doing. That was on full display here. Overpacing himself, chasing after his opponent with his head not moving off center, following his opponent around without any resemblence of cutting the cage in half .... As soon as Akiyama shook off the first surprise by his wild approach, Mohamed was doomed.

for a moment I thought the leg gave up, it was already in very bad shape, then I saw the replay and what a precise punch right on the sleep button

Top level? Sherif is 9-6 and zero of those six wins come against an opponent with a winning record. Straight can and still gave sexyama a hard time. I did enjoy seeing the respect and humility from sherif though.

Yeah, as soon as I saw him acting like that I knew that Akiyama was likely to win as long as he kept doing what he was doing.

Sexyama was timing that right hand beautifully, kept sneaking it in after the first few bullrushes

My first thought was Sharif’s knee gave out, until he boneless chickened the landing. Credit to Akiyama for the amazing punch while moving quickly backward.

It’s like Mohammed was running and he stepped over an incoming bucket he didn’t see until last minute, but caught the top of the bucket and tripped 🤣 and ko himself

Yeah it kind of looked like his only strategy was aggression. Like he pushed forward a lot in the beginning but didn't actually land anything. I hope he learned from this though.

Aki's a beast! beautiful leg kick to destroy his leg used his cage knowledge to perfection massively underrated ability to counter going backwards serious technique 👌

Yoshihiro Akiyama looks and fights great for his age. Real warrior.

He is a beast. So glad Netflix had the Physical 100. There are so many incredible athletes around the world. I was awestruck! They should definitely do another one in a different part of the world

Yoshihiro is actually a really good dad and has appeared in a lot of korean tv shows, such an amazing guy

Egyptian dude brute force his way thru volume punches, tiring himself out. Akiyama played smart in keeping his distance while dodging those bombs until the egyptian got tired. Dunno why people say he is running, akiyamas age is 44 and his chin has been depleted by repeated wars in his prime so why the hell would he stand and trade.

He wasnt tired. He just stupidly repeated the same flurry every time. You can see Akiyama finding the timing for his counter right several times before. I think it was his 3rd or 4th try wich was successfull.

You have to love that Mohamed's getting mad that the other guy isn't just standing there taking his bull-rush shots to the face... The fact Mohamed is a professional fighter and all he has is a bull-rush forward throwing punches like a madman technique, that is ridiculous! If not for being all roided out, that guy would not be anywhere...

@@agauerm I think the leg kick he reacted to messed up his leg more than you imagine. That KO punch wasn't one he literally fell when his leg didnt work

@@Jabarri74 Yea, you can see the guy limping slightly after one kick on his leg. I think his leg just didn't work the way he wanted anymore after that.
