Just performed this piece yesterday with the community band I am in (trombone). Our new music director is Mark Camphouse's nephew. He told us this was written while Camphouse was on vacation to Yosemite and had sworn not to do any composing while on vacation but quickly changed his mind when inspired by the landscape. He later dedicated it to the memory of his mother (director's grandmother). This is truly a majestic piece to perform.
Mark Camphouse was our clinician for beaufort county all county band. Tells the worst band jokes for instance "did you guys have a lot of pancakes today, because you are really flat." Cool guy though awesome composer too.
I played the timpani solo at 4:22 last year. I was so proud of that part, lol
First horn and first trumpet on this piece really an amazing piece

DonTdroWn But the first horn is difficult
Playing this for Large Group Performance Evaluation this year (trombone). This is such an awesome and beautiful piece and contrasts super well with the 2 other songs we are playing. Mark Camphouse is truly respected by me and my band mates
Played this with my band my senior year in high school back in 2007. One of the most rewarding experiences of my life. To be playing onstage at the Orlando band festival with a powerful mixed band from two different high schools. I'd love to play this piece with my community band. :)
Heard this on a CD of my Orchestra and well... One of the most beautiful songs I ever heard, especially the flute solo at 3:37 (flute player)😄
our marching band played this for the 4th movement of our show, it was sweet. we got first in state for the 6th year in a row!
We're playing this for Musicfest comp this Friday :) I was initially reluctant to play this piece, but I'm glad we did. I always die during the bass line of 5:03, though, lol (trombonist).
The clinician at my honor band clinic told us about this piece and the inspiration for it, sadly didnt get to play it. Beautiful piece and it's a really cool story (drum solo is supposed to represent the rumbling of the waterfall he heard)
Hard to believe it's actually this long

This was my favorite piece (along with Torch Dance) that the MMEA Senior Eastern District Band performed...I loved all of the solo and remembered being blown away by this and realizing that I'm part of the MMEA Band (it almost put me to tears because this piece is just pure beauty and excitement).
I live 10 miles from George Mason University, the school in which Camphouse is a professor. My schools band is playing Whatsoever Things for district assessment and our director just told us that Camphouse has agreed to work on it with us. This is incredible.
I was in the Winthrop Univ. Clinic Concert Band and we played this at this tempo..this piece was my favorite.

Michael Brown hey! 9 years later, and I attended that same honor band :)
I loved playing first horn. I really do love this piece to listen to but to play it really did hurt my lips. It's kinda long, and there are close to no breaks for my part.

Scott Williams what part cuz that trumpet part Jesus.
3:00 Reminds me of Ace Combat 4's Megalith Mission, with the horns and low brass and reeds being the perfect accompaniment to Heaven's Gate's Trumpet solo.
Chills everytime i listen to it omgg
We played this on Carnegie hall!

I dig the Timpani... and bowing the Vibes... and just the entire epic piece in general
I was 3rd trumpet on this & I loved every note this because it could be a bit challenging with the tempo changes and getting on top of the notes while having a full sound at the same time I perfected that junk👏🏾👏🏾
I got to play this piece this weekend under Mr. Camphouse! :) He's such an amazing guy.
my schools playing this right now its my new favorite piece
@hinsojd7494 I was also just there, I have to say that this piece made the clinic for me
Playing this, while being conducted by Mark Camphouse, for the Ohio Band Convention, Best experience ever.
I played this song along with four other Camphouse songs for my director to get his master's. I've never enjoyed playing horn so much in my life :')
This ROCKS! Need some downloadable recordings. I'm willing to pay!
I had to do a 3-5 page report on him. Easiest report of my life because he is sooo beast and there are so many famous and historically significant pieces by him.
Playing this for college honor band!:D
I love this song so much. But Mark Camphouse was acted like a jerk to my band director when they first met. They're cool now, though. Camphouse just needed a Snickers (I mean this figuratively). :D
I have to learn this piece for All-State tryouts. Beautiful.
Playing this for all-county band today! Very nice piece that has been a joy to play, very moving!
