YORUBA GIANTS & the FULANI: FACT, FICTION, or LOST HISTORY? | Oyo Empire - AbinibiHub

I travelled to Oyo Alaafin to met with Chief (Basorun) Ayoola Akinola one of the Oyo Mesi to know more bout the Great Oyo Empire where the yoruba Giants lived between the 11th Century to 15th Century. He explained to me what Oyo Empire stands for and how powerful Alaafin was during that time and explain to me the Fulani made them leave Oyo Empire then before moving to Oyo Town also known as Oyo oro or Oyo Alaafin.

    That's too simplistic, it won't solve Nigeria tribalism mindset differences. Where is the division going to end? If you subdivide till your father compound, it won't resolve the administrative/structural failures in Nigeria that are existing. Use Modakeke/Ife rivalry as a case study

    My own contribution to this matter is that, firstly if all our fathers in Yoruba land can give us a massive support, and they're going to invite powerful & bold men to enter there, this is the reason why we need someone like Chief Sunday Igboho, bcos we cannot be silent for everything and we must to fight for our right in our fathers land, but the only fear I have is that we Yoruba's we are the enemy of ourselves, it's good as everyone of us are trying to wake up now, but don't let us be too late bcos those people's have mission on our lands, may God bless you all

    The only correction i want to make is that you said they left OYO because they heard rumour that fulanis are coming to invade Baba was actually wrong Not true OYO was actually invaded it was the collaboration of Fulanis, yoruba, Nupe and hausa from Ilorin who are now muslim that destroyed Oyo Ile Think of this how can a while Oyo Ile the capital if OYO Empire that has been fighting war up to benin republic and Togo and conquering people and rule over them Will now heard of a War run leave their Abode If case you don’t it requires a lot of War to build an Empire

  • @abinibihub

    @abinibihub

    13 күн бұрын

    The Oyo Empire faced invasions throughout its history. In Early 16th century: The Oyo were conquered by their northern neighbors, the Nupe. However, they regained control by 1610. Then in 1724-1748: The Oyo clashed with the rising Kingdom of Dahomey in a series of wars. Oyo emerged victorious and Dahomey became a tributary state and I’m sure you have seen the movie woman king. Then in 1820s: there serious war internally which wreaking the structure and during this process ibadan was created in 1829 and most of the wariors moved to ibadan with Ibashorun oluyole, then Fulani Muslims launched attacks on the Oyo, eventually capturing the northern city of Ilorin but not Oyo Ile and establishing the Fulani Emirate in ilorin. Don’t forget they tried Oshogbo, Igbeti and some other towns after then and lost with the help of Ibadan warriors. If the invaders actually succeeded as you claim what is the name of the king that died in the process? They ran away ni and Ofcause they took who did not run. I stand to be corrected with fact and proof sha.

    Late Barrister Sikiru Ayinde (R.I.P) once sang: "Awa o tanna w'ebi", which means we are not searching for relatives. So, I am surprised that Yorubas have chosen to believe that they have a common tie with Fulanis. That so-called common tie exists only in Yorubas' warped imagination. Fulanis' lifelong ambition is to seize Yoruba land and this is the ambition they have been pursuing from the time Nigeria's number one terrorist (Uthman Dan Fodio) wandered into the geographical space now called Nigeria. They have discovered that overrunning Yoruba land will not be as easy as it was for them to overrun Hausa land. That is why they have recruited fellow Yorubas as their agents, starting from so-called traditional rulers to politicians and religious hypocrites among us. If Yorubas are not to become part of history. If they are to make into the next century and beyond, Fulanis' mission in Yoruba land MUST FAIL. 16:56

    Read about the tragic story of Alaafin Oluewu, your blood will boil towards a particular actress or tribe. Look at how Ilorin was taken. There should be Oba of Ilorin, not emir. All these led to abandonment of Oyo-Ile. What is Oyo State govt doing to protect the mineral resources of Oyo-Ile and Oyo State in general? Boyndaries need to be established and pure yorubas should be in charge of everything about their affairs. If there are bandits in Oyo-Ile, what's the solution to drive them out? Empowering and supporting Amotekun is highly needed. Lastly, all Yorubas should read story of the wrought aggressor tribes of herders did to their forefathers. Correction is needed in that area.
