Just wanted to say that Yoriichi's Father wasn't a total jerk, he was just extremely superstitious & always anxious. He also loved his wife very much. I believe this can be found in Vol. 23 of the Manga.

Just notice that yorichiis eyes are as dull as giyuus that might mean that yorichii is depressed of what happened to michikatsu and uta along with his son
