Not sure why it has to be uniquely Karenland all those foods can be found in its neighbouring countries quite commonly

Karenland?! I’ve never heard Singapore referenced to by that term before! You’re right, Yong Tau Foo can be found throughout this region in areas where the Chinese diaspora have settled - my Yong Tau Foo is prepared by a lovely Aunty who herself is Chinese Indonesian. I would say this could have been thought of as unique in that the soup in my Yong Tau Foo was a laksa base, specifically the Singapore laksa base as that kind of laksa is known outside of Singapore, as opposed to Penang or Assam laksa. However, once you go West of Suez, you’ll struggle to find Yong Tau Foo. As I’ve said before, I’m an outsider and I may get some of this wrong but what I am going to do is share my enthusiasm for the amazing food available here. Thanks for watching!

Do they taste the same though? Eg. Hainanese chicken rice in sg is not the same as Hainan island’s. 😅

I think I need to travel more in order to find out! Like language, as cuisine travels it evolves. The joy is in discovering the difference between food such as Goan Vindaloo and a British Vindaloo, or SG chicken rice and Hainan Island’s. Thanks for watching!

It’s 4.8% so not too strong. It’s certainly interesting. Not a session beer, but if you like flavoured beers such as Desperados or Tiger Soju, this could be your thing!

How is Yong Tau Foo uniquely a Singaporean dish?? Have you done your homework before you praise Singaporean like they had invented all the Chinese food in the world?

You only get so much from books. As an outsider, the real fun and learning is from experiencing the sights, smells and tastes. As I go on this journey I am attempting to share it through the channel. As mentioned previously, Yong Tau Foo is a dish enjoyed by the Chinese diaspora throughout South-East Asia, but this was the version with a laksa base, specifically the curry or Singapore laksa, hence Singaporean version. Perhaps in time, I will be able to share the other variants available in the region. Thanks for watching!
