Rujuta Diwekar is a well-known dietitian and suggests to eat what is being cooked at one's home. She suggests eating those vegetables which are grown locally and not somewhere abroad. She says that one must escape from packaged food and 'sweet' intake from ice-creams, soft drinks etc.

    I am surprised at the negative comments. She is talking common sense and reminding us that there is a reason why native/ local foods are better and cheaper instead of following the West blindly and eating foods not grown in our environment. Wish she would list the research she quotes in her talks so that the public can go to the original source of the claims she makes.

    I agree with all your points, except sugar.. It is not our traditional food.. And in south we don't use sugar in Panchamruta, we use banana dates & jaggery ..
