These auctions are interesting. I can see how easy it would be to get burned on one. I used to military surplus auctions and auto auctions but never got involved with equipment auctions. Enjoy these videos a lot

It is really crazy what some of this equipment is going for now. Auctions are hit and miss. Sometimes you do good and other times you just walk around with your hands in your pockets all day just shaking your head. Keep up the videos I have really enjoyed them can’t wait to see more on the camper rig.

Yoder and Frey always seems the place to play with equipment. Dig what you want drive what you want. Maybe not the newest stuff but still a good time. Great video!

This was a great video Clint and thanks for taking us along looking at and checking the equipment out . It looked like that you and your dad was having fun with Michael and Chris looking at the equipment, poking fun at it having a good laugh . That looked like a good John Deere skid steer that you got . And the dozers that you got looked pretty good, just need to clean them up some and give them a little bit of T L C checking everything out . It was good to see that DP got him a haul truck, but it looked like that it needs a few things done to it . It did sound good running and it was driving okay looked like . Well I will see you all later on another video, so be careful and stay safe out there traveling . As always, Jeffrey!!!

Just a little FYI on the cat 983 Clint. The 983 was NOT a D8 with a loader frame on it as many folks think. It was built from the ground up as a dedicated track type loader for severe service and that is just what it did.

You can really get burned on these on line auctions unless you can go check out the equipment yourself and many bidders don’t which drives up the price on a piece of junk. I recently watched an online auction of a backhoe in the Shenandoah valley of VA. It was a low hour machine. When the bidding got up to 23k I decided I had better go look at it as it was now at top dollar price and three days of auction time left. I am soooo glad I went and looked it over. The stabilizers would not lift the machine off the ground and the loader would not lift the front wheels, an alarm went off when I started it that indicated there was water in the fuel, and a rear tire was flat. I walked away from it and that machine sold for $50,100.00. Someone was going to be real disappointed when they picked that machine up!!! If you can’t inspect it prior to the auction you should pass it up.

Yep you have to be really careful

In 1966 I started my equipment operating, from Yung farmer boy in Northern California, to Cat skinner, my dozer was D6c , for many years to D8, D9 dozens. In California 95 % of all track equipment has Rippers, lots rock . I have run few cats without Rippers. But perfer Rippers, it balanced out the equipment, plus remember running a dozer without Rippers, it's always more from idler heavy, that why hard dozer blade is tipped back because it's to hard run, generally Rippers weight is about same as a dozer blade, making rig more balanced. I've seen guy absolutely trun a dozwe over backwards, especially years ago loading and unloading equipment off a trailer, but now these days trailers are some much more advanced and safer loading equipment. I had a friend who was unloading a track loader and tipped it over backwards, didn't have Rippers it cost him he's Life. But also he was loading on a sloped road way, that was definitely foolish. That was in mid 70.

Hi from uk guys 👋👍another great 1 here but seem they tried to fill gaps with 30ft between lots🤔 last 1 was packed clean in between 5-10ft and covered mass array of land for better purpose that 983 track loader all hose where chaffing on engine cover too right side (least of her problems I know lol (do older girls have check valves? Just incase 😬) and just 1 silly thing I notice how the hell do you get telehandler stuck?🤔 its what I operate on site 20 mtr (jcb 540 200) should be able to push or pull ourselves out any thing 🤔 I have got in some messy situtions but always got meself out using outriggers and boom and carriage plate as anchor or tilt down dig forks in and push back lol strange risking 2 other machines getting stuck and damaged (nothing to protect telehandler from rear push😡🤔) but rant over😵😬😂 like how mike from dp opened rear access to check blowby etc tried to catch it shut 😂😵 still love your auctioneers sound great the way they roll their words lol thanks for time guys be safe and see you soon👋👍

So you're saying that you had time to use your own number, with all the friends that did not have a number... :P ( so what you bought ) The doosan dx255lc attachment I would say pole setter attachment / telephone pole attachment just from a quick look But sins on the webpage they had Repairing Broken Pipes / Tree Removal in the work description ( waybackmachine) I would think a pipe attachment

I always assumed the D8K & the 983 were the same, but an old school cat mechanic schooled me in a rather gruff tone. The only similarity was the weight 71,000 for the 983 and 70,000 for the D8K.

They are based on the same platform 80k on 983 The d8k was 70k The 983 is heavier because of loader and counterweight
