I believe they were remaining good and still contact each other it just that they are not going to admit publicly. They are growing up together since their trainee year, they leave the group doesn't mean they are going to abandon their friendship and relation :)

It's been almost 10yrs and I still can't get over my Yunjae heart

I dont think the two of them are together now.. But I'm really sure that they did dated each other at some point. Jaejoong has always been my bias in TVXQ and this man is totally an open book.. He wears his heart on his sleeve and always blurts out things without thinking when it comes to his feelings. Jaejoong is really bad in hiding his feeling.. The more he tried to hide it the more it shows. 😂. So yeah..i'm really sure the two have a history of more than just a friend together.. You can't fake the subtle look in your eyes or body gesture afterall. Anyway.. I believe they did reconcile as friend over the years..but the painful separation of the group probably took a toll on their relationship and it's just wasn't the same as before anymore. Well.. I wish the happiness of the both of them whoever they end up with..

Totally agree with you on this. It is just painful for me to think about such a wholesome relationship ends like that. Even in real life, dating somebody for 4, 5 years already considered as a long successful relationship. 10 years passed already, it is okay if they are just common friends now. But it is still painful of all JaeJoong's wistful reactions sometimes.

This is why Yunho is Jaejoong's half and Jaejoong is Yunho's half !!!!

It was not very long ago. Definitely within the past two years. Jaejoong was doing an instagram live at his house, and the tv show he had on in the background was Yunho's episode of "I Live Alone." He noticed that the audio was too loud, so he went to either pause it or turn down the volume (but he didn't turn it off completely, because it was still visible for a moment in the background).
