Yiruma wrote this piece while he served the Navy which is a requirement in Korea. Being separated from his daughter for so long, the piece translates the pain he felt for not being able to be there for her. He speaks about this at his live performances

This song is almost turning 10 years old, time really flies fast.

This song makes me feel a feeling that I can't explain. I remember so many moments of my life in an instant.

When Yiruma makes music he doesn't need singers, effects, auto-tune, music videos, and a beat. It's just him, the piano, and all the feelings he pours into his music =)

Yiruma is by far the best pianist that I have heard in such a long time. He takes the piano and gives it emotion and he can make it sing to you.. When you can make an instrument sing.. That is when you know you are good enough to be called a musician in the classical respect.

The best songs in the world are those who do not have lyrics yet full of emotions. You're the best Yiruma.

I think is one of the more unique pieces different from most of Yiruma's work, one of my favorites

10년전 이루마콘서트에서 이곡을 처음듣고 너무좋아서 cd를 샀던 기억이있네요ㅎㅎ 당시에 태어난아이를위해 만든곡이라고 들어서 더기억에 남네요!

His daughter is only in Grade 2 so I don't think it's for her wedding, unless he meant in the future.

His compositions are genius. They are not made to impress but to soothe and be loved. The hand movements are made to be coordinated, if you like playing Mozart you'll find that Yiruma's pieces when played is similar in fluidity.

everyone misunderstnad. his daughter name isnt loana.... her name is rowoon. Yirowoon in korean and Rowoon Yi in englsih. but korean always put Ah sounds in last when they call some one. so you have to CALL her "rowoonah" not "rowoon"... its same with japanese. japanese put "san" or "jjang" in name when they call... so this song real name is 로운아. its call her daughter... and in english sounds like that title... haha. loana...... its rowoonah be the loana for easy pronounce.

I saw him in concert a few weeks ago. He played this song and he pronounced it as "Loanna" in English. Maybe he pronounced it that way for his American audience and that's her English name. Regardless, it is a beautiful name and this song matches it perfectly.
