Beautifully crafted singing here. A lesson for everyone to sing in YOUR VOICE. There is beauty in every colror, size, and fach. He executed this so well it is insane.

What a gorgeous dulcet sound coming from this lyric tenor. His mask notes are impressive and hammer into my being with such delight. And I can understand him protecting his voice by avoiding high note fortissimos, but once he crosses that barrier...fantastico!

I too loved that he avoided the Bnat which many show offs like to sing This aria doesn't need it. Cilea wrote it with an A. B was optional. As good as any version I have ever heard

sorry , pero no es un sobre agudo , y el SI final es optativo , no esta en la partitura ...lo de la letra le puede ocurrir a cualquiera , es una interpretacion fantástica

A lovely lyric sound. Obviously not a huge voice but he more than compensates with his skill and sensitivity. Should sing the lyric composers beautifully.

As long as he stays in lyric repertoire, he doesn't need a big voice. It's a very nice voice, great taste, and it sures travels well.

+mauro bernardi dico quello che sento . questa e' la vocalità di una zanzara,niente di più . nessuna morbidezza,nessuna tristezza e ancora meno poesia in questa vocalità infantile ! nessuna . viva lo stereo ! viva il pop moderno ! ps. una vocetta come questa deve cantare il fa naturale acuto ! livello artistico scuola media . no comment .

@SHICOFF1 it seems he is referring the final high note, and complaining of it, not full cry, rather covered to hide some inability. But we all know through his other singing that he has unlimited high graceful singing, like the Tomb song, and I Puritain aria...

@SHICOFF1 There is a writing below from others in Chinese, they were talking of his push into heavy verdi, and worried as you did also, how ironic, I was saying that he be pushed into it, and this is your concern too. Also there are a few complaints on his error in forgetting or mix up words in the middle. I think this is normal in live performance to forget things, please let me know if this is wrong. And you probably have real experience to catch the errors from Jussi or others. Those compliants here are not in english, let me know in future if you need to translate. There are software on any device but when people writing in short sentence, sometime hard to get a real meaningful translation...

He somehow jumped to the text with 'fatale vision' during the first phrase, leaving no choice but to repeat it again in the second phrasing.

Me gusta un montón. Me decepciona que no se vaya arriba en el agudo final. Podría intentarlo, aunque es verdad que es un cantante de los que cantan las partituras, según me parece, en su tono. No se baja nada para ir algo más cómodo. Este lamento de Federico lo lleva a una tesitura muy aguda. Es, quizá, por lo que no se atreve a duplicar el agudo final y llevarlo al do. Es la gran emoción, siempre, de este aria. Así, la deja incompleta.

En la partitura no está el si, es simplemente costumbre por lo que lo hacen.

he knows none languages of italian or french, learned the hard way to memorize through hard work closed door... yes some error, so be all the big stars and legends. As you know at real opera performance, at least Met opera and big ones, they always have a big window hidding on the stage to have people holding the book of what is performing, to insure he or she knows what he is singing, in case to forget. And maybe that is the beauty of live performance with error and silly things, to not be perfect...

E' inutile vi dovete rassegnare. Loro studiano per ore ed ore e si sente.

it is absolutely normal and human to make mistakes, his success was due big part to his italian judges and opera managers according to himself. They are much more forgiven than chinese, and it is quite ok to make erros as it happens to all, including the biggest stars. Remember it is live, if he did this in recordings, then you can write and kill his reputation whatever you want. Be enjoy the moment, it it not easy to find such a handsome voice, in the whole world...yes. Trust what I said.

He has trouble modulating the mezza voce, and tends to go from full-throated forte to a weak unsupported sound when he wants to sing more softly. If this clip is 10 years old I assume his career has gone as far as it could.I had never heard of him before KZread.

You really have no idea what you are talking about. Some areas were written with pp, not mezza voce, and he sang pp with fully supported voice.
