Dictionary meaning of acoustic: 1.relating to sound or the sense of hearing. "dogs have a much greater acoustic range than humans" 2.(of popular music or musical instruments) not having electrical amplification. "a sad, gentle acoustic ballad" noun 1.the properties or qualities of a room or building that determine how sound is transmitted in it. "the Symphony Hall has perfect acoustics" 2.the branch of physics concerned with the properties of sound.

Correct. But you do get why the term has been used, right? I mean if we’re going to get ultra specific on terminology then Specialized better remove the ‘Turbo’ part of their Turbo Levo/Kenevo ranges, along with all the other technically incorrect terms used in the MTB world. (That said, I do hate the use of acoustic in this way so I don’t really know why I’m arguing with you here! 😂)

@@iffy_too4289 The term acoustic, used in bike terms came from analogue / electric guitars... so I get what they are saying, but it’s still utterly unnecessary! You’re right, the bike industry loves coining a term, regardless of whether it makes sense or actually sounds right.

You can also buy a brand new bike for $100. Bikes’ cost is dependent on how much it costs to make it. Of course they are marked up, but considering R&D costs and bike part availability, it makes more sense. I do agree that some brands (like Santa Cruz) do need to chill out, for example for $4k you’re getting NX Eagle and a Yari RC on an aluminum bike.

When that happens, the support and components go with it. Don't believe me, try and get a replacement fork for 26" wheels. Another example is Rotwild, a German bike company, they used to make some great MTB, check their lineup today - 100% E-bikes.
