I love these graphics. Stunningly simple, aesthetically painful. Love it.
Your choice is FIVE! Man I love that jingle

Or the first appearance of Boba Fett.
This is bringing back some memories! Thanks for the time put into it. Very much appreciated
The "spinning cameraman" of WABC, Channel 7, for the various movie shows in the 70s and 80s... rock on, dude!
I love Ubu. Such a good dog.
Wow. The visceral reaction this brought up was amazing.
This is a phenomenal assemblage of this genres content. Terrific, just terrific.
I remember the CTW and PBS from Sesame Street back in the 90s! Great collection!
CBS Special Presentation had me in complete awe excelllent compilation
This is the video that got me hooked on logos from the start. Thank you so much for changing my life in this regard!
This certainly brings back alot of memories.
im glad someone else shares my love of these!
Fond memories of the Children's Television Workshop, thank you for posting this.
For me, the WGBH Boston logo was usually followed by something that the teacher would tape at home, and then make us watch the next day. Those could be pretty excruciating!
I absolutely love this stuff. my childhood is back!!!
When I heard the ITC one, I immediately exclaimed, "THE MUPPET SHOW!!!" And 'Sit Ubu, Sit' was Family Ties.

ladyofthelake1123 I believe that "Sit, Ubu, sit" was heard at the end of every episode of The Dukes of Hazard.
OMG!!!!! 2:00 I haven't seen that since I was little. For some reason I guess it was the music that scared me and I hid in my Mom's lap.
I don't know if all of these count as futuristic, but the ones that do are wonderful. Those beautiful synths and simple, satisfying images are so audio-visually catchy it makes you want a music video of them. Oh yeah, Justice already did that with their wicked awesome video for DVNO!
13 years ago....wow, I am so amazed this compilation is still alive. 😃 I seen it ever since you premiered it. Thanks for the memories!
the LBS ones were always my faves...and often followed the older green DIC ones... almost forgot the Hanna Barbera one..that brought back memories
My favorite part of every show. Thanks!

Toonsmyth Productions hello! Is your avatar supposed to be a Mickey Mouse-style Johnny Vegas?
I remember the Viacom logo coming almost out of the TV screen like a train coming down the track.
The old CBS "Special Presentation" bumper at 2:43 has gotta be one of my all-time favorite logos ever. I remember it from my childhood.
That WGBH is iconic
Where did the MK12 logo came from? An excerpt of an article on Wikipedia: MK12 Studios is a filmmaking and design collective with over a dozen award-winning short films to its credit. Their approach to filmmaking and animation is experimental and holistic, blending live action, traditional and CGI animation, nostalgic influence and new technologies to define their own unique brand of storytelling. EDIT: Finally got the answer. It's from Ultralove Ninja.
Thanks for the nostalgia pill!
Yes, I remember that too. The CBS Special Presentation takes me back as well.
1:05 Gave me the chills.
If only some of the songs in these intro sequences had full length counterparts.
i hate it when logos bring tears to my eyes... dammit! :D thank you!
When I was realy young (about 6 or 7) my mind was convinced that the ITC spinning geometric shape was a real thing that existed somewhere. I was also convinced that the 20th Century Fox logo with beacons was a place I could go to! The Rankin-Bass here with the jerky quality makes it even more scary! Same for S from Hell Screen Gems! Good collection!!
That spinning CBS Special logo with the drums! We'd RUN for the TV because we knew Charlie Brown or whatever we were waiting for was starting! No pause button in those days...had to go to the bathroom fast or you'd MISS the beginning.
Love the Stephen J Cannell sequence. Makes me think of The Greatest American Hero

Holy crap I had so many chils watching intros from my childhood. Especially that CBS Special logo! Whenever that was on it was usually during the holidays watching Charlie Brown or Frosty or Rudolph. *memories*

It meant for Cree that she was about to see something really bad, but with the debut of something really good. Star Wars Holiday Special... Boba Fett.
Man, I remember being so scared of the Columbia Pictures logos when I was young. The Closet Killer Paramount logo wasn't very nice to me either, same with Walt Disney Home Video (outline Mickey is mad creepy) and Stephen J. Cannell (I hated that C.) However, I STILL love me some "Sit, Ubu, Sit!" I loved that dog, always came on at the end of Cheers!
Movie! Movie!! MOVIE!!! Nice set here.
@raposofan It's called classical conditioning. Childhood: Pair the logo music (unconditioned stimulus) with the warm happy feelings of childhood (unconditioned response) experienced at the time you listened to the music. Adult: a conditioned response (emotional reaction - happy/wistful/sad) occurs when you hear the same logo as an adult (logo music now is a conditioned stimulus).
1:06-1:10 Saturday Morning Cartoons.
wow, i didn't realize how old motion graphics really was until you reminded me of this stuff. thank you for that.
I remember that SPECIAL logo that was on CBS, that's one of the logos that used to scare the living daylights out of me, and the Viacom V of Doom.
I used to love the Hanna-Barbera star logo, but for some reason I conflate it in my head with the typewriter one. I also remember that my brother and I always had to say the name of the company before it showed up on screen. Talk about successful branding!

Same here!
Wow, this really brings back memories from my childhood...this must have taken a lot of research to put together.
0:13 VIACOM V OF DOOM IS HERE???
Awesome! So very well done!
Fuuuuuuuuck dude, scroll through to 1:06!!!! I've been googling "spinning star/ old tv spinning start/...etc" trying to look for this freakin tv logo, and I FOUND IT! This Hanna-Barbara logo is one of those that never left my mind. Something about the sound and that star. VERY NICE FIND!
Ha....I remember that Stephen J. Cannell logo...its been many many years...
PBS really had some out there sounds!
This video came out when my cat Sega was still alive and before Maru the Cat was born.
I felt all the feelings I felt when I first saw these (The ones I saw in my lifetime, anyway). I still think outline Mickey is freaky, and the tone for WGBH used to scare me- but I don't think we had those same letters. And whatever I used to watch that had the Rankin Bass logo I must have enjoyed it, based on my emotions :/
I appreciate how this was edited and created. Be As a child these little blips of creativity really stood out for me growing up... Probably why I became a graphic artist.
This is so great! What a genius idea!
Brings me nostalgia watching this.
That was on of my favorites. It always came on right before the Charlie Brown holiday cartoons. Got me all revved up!
It's funny to think that something like movie/television logos are remembered and cherished by people my age. Now a days there are no ending credits and animated logos. Damn you Credi Squeeze!!!
next time, add the NBC special presentation current one, that always gets me perked up for the macy's thanksgiving day parade! woohoo!
oH My God THIS IS FREAKIN ME OUT AAHHHHHH!!!
Students of graphic design should look at this.
RIP stephen j cannell
Yes that one is the best. Geez, I think I remember that one from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
This video came out when my cat Sega was still alive and i was 4 and a half years old. Sega would die 2 months later.
The Hannah Barbara logo!
The WBGH Boston one I made that my ringtone and I love it!!
To the person who asked, the UBU logo was on after "Family Ties," but I don't remember what other shows had it, though I believe I remember seeing it after some early sitcom on FOX. "Duet" I think it was.

Typewriter guy never gets old
LOL, the music from the intro (3:45) sounds like the Castlevania 64 intro!
had afew dreams about these, first one was that I had a show on tv with my own custom logo, and had enough money to get more shows and get the famous logo companies back in buisiness
Whoever said "gorgeous!" during the closing credits to Gabby Duran & the Unsittables must be on drugs!
@thomasgilbert6699

Why did only one person say "gorgeous!"? Probably someone who played Principal Swift on Gabby Duran & the Unsittables. It's like president Donald Trump smoking pot.
Awesome!! I've seen everyone of these before, and can sing along!! ;)
quality, loving the synth music too.
That is a CBS Saturday morning cartoon commercial bumper in the mid 1980's.
Awesome compilation! So many memorable ones here. The Rankin-Bass signature always came at the end of those clay-animated Christmas specials (Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, etc.). My local CBS station was owned by Group W (Westinghouse) back in the 70s and 80s when they were an NBC affiliate (WBZ-TV Channel 4 in Boston). The WGBH Boston signature always came on before ZOOM. Thanks for posting!
0:37 to 0:48 = THE GREATEST.
dude for sure i totaly forgot about that logo untill now damn that takes me back
jefftimesten, I don't know how you found the Channel 7 Saturday Afternoon Movie, that I use to watch a long time ago in Gary, but that brings back a lot of memories. I was looking for that one for a long time since I noticed KZread. I mainly watched the late night version but again thanks for bring that back!!!!!!!!!!!
God, I remember some of those when I was growing up!
Wow, my childhood flashed before my eyes...
5:02--I fully expected "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" to come on after WGBH Boston, hee hee
Love all the old logos...brings me back to a simpler time; when life was easy, television was farely new and innocent. Those were good times!!!
Geez I saw almost ALL of these growing up. Did I watch that much TV??
Wow, lot of memories in there. Great stuff.
The Columbia Sunburst one at 1:02 used to scare the living hell out of me when I was a kid.
your choice 5 your choice 5 your choice 5 YOUR CHOICE IS FIVE
most of those gives me the fuckin goosebumps
as i come to find, around the holidays sometimes, a boston radio station, WROR 105.7, during the holiday format, uses the rankin bass logo jingle 70's during the legal ID
Sit Ubu. Sit. Good dog. I wouldn't turn the channel at the end of Family Ties until I saw that.
@raposofan >>>These logos make us cry because they remind us of the innocent world we lived in where fragile little grammas made us warm chicken noodle soup after a cold wintery day playing outside.
Man, was Raymond Scott right, little electronic noise logos that would immediately stick in a persons head. If you're interested in retro-future, synth music, and/or electronic noise, pick up his compilation "Manhattan Research".
i was born in 75, i remembered most of these. and there was some i didnt know i remembered!:)
I was hoping you had the ITC one. That was used for UFO and several other Gerry and Sylvia Anderson shows.
@newpwerfections

Do you remember the spinning shape logo used before The Muppet Show, UFO, and Space 1999?
You have to thank Douglas Trumbull and Stanley Kubrick for these "Slit-Scan" type motion graphics. After "2001: A Space Odyssey"'s Stargate sequence hit the screens everybody's Idea of opening bumber's and Idents changed ABC's movie of the week was the first to actually use it. Trumbull himself did the sequence for that one. Good clips!
that rankin bass logo always had me scared to go to sleep after Frosty the Snowman.
So many of my favorites.
Great collection of logos! That "zombie" Mickey Mouse clip for Disney was a really odd one, but a good find.
I love the sounds Futuristic but old school
Ahh, so satisfying
i dont know why but the screen gems logo used to freak me out late at night when i was a kid.
I remember about half of these (or more), and I've never even lived in the states (but in Australia) :) Thank God for imported TV for daytime programming in the 80s.
omg i remember these but i grew up in the 90's O.O crazy....now i feel super old!!
I had the commedy live action, and cartoon series. I had a list of companies I dreamed I worked with. DIC, 2015, program exchange LBS and CPT as well. there was no chance that the v of doom was gonna be there
