Beautiful but life never worked out like I wanted but I’m thankful God brought me thus far

Just a wonderful song allowing one to retrospectively think about what life has delivered.

it makes you realise how much of our lives most of us throw away, as they say ‘youth is wasted on the young’

RIP Glen Campbell....you sang these verses with such passion.

It's my life. There's pain and sadness. There were things done I want to correct but times run so fast. I thank God for being good to me, despite the mistakes committed, He gave me a wonderful life. I'm now in my senior years, I want to spend it serving Him, my family and my community. Yesterday When I was Young but yesterday can no longer bring back. To the youth, live your life to the fullest.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Your comment is a reminder to try to be bold and focus on the positive and not dwell in the negative-at least that is what I thought as I read it. I think of my soon to be wife, and how some of the things bug me to no end-but (ironically) in the end these “annoyances” are trivial and meaningless. God Bless You.

I've heard the song over and over you're such a beautiful song remind me of my life ups and downs in Glen Campbell is so phenomenal

The poignancy of this song and its singer isn't lost of me, weren't were all so young at one time and our lives may have echoed the strains of this song and its lyrics, there is a beauty of sorts contained in this song along with a sad realisation that haven't we all walked this road.

Every word is true about life. This is what happens when u look back at years that have gone. It actually hurt to see that we are growing old and will be gone someday.

Sometimes songs are like poetry the words are beautiful and touching ❤️

Thank you very much! I was a child when I first heard this song and I have always liked it. I haven't heard it in a while. I like many of the old songs. I just got through singing with "Try to Remember", which has been one of my favorite songs since childhood. Having two older sisters, one almost eight years older and the other almost fourteen years older, enabled me to be exposed to more of the "oldies but goodies" than I would have otherwise gotten to know. I grew up with Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, Glen Yarborough, Joni Mitchell, et cetera. I appreciate your posts and look forward to listening to others that I know as well as those with which I am unfamiliar.

I was in Panama on a ship docked for fuel during the ships transit through the canal. Returning to the ship several of our crew met up with several girls returning to their ship headed for Australia 🇦🇺. We all hit it off so well we remained talking and laughing and hugging. Our ship was blowing the whistle for us to board. We were engineers and the ship could not leave without us onboard. The girls were sweet and beautiful and I knew then that would be my story in life, leaving my girl on the dock. A very sad realization!
