TRYING ON YESSTYLE WEDDING DRESSES / YESSTYLE WEDDING DRESS HAUL / EXPECTATION REALITY / YESSTYLE HAUL / TRYING ON CHEAP WEDDING DRESSES FROM YESSTYLE 2020 -
Today I’m trying on cheap wedding dresses from YesStyle! I have a lot of wedding dress haul videos coming out - the next one will be 8 different wedding dresses from AliExpress, in all different styles! In todays video, I picked out dresses that suited my own personal style - let me know what you think of them, and what your favourite wedding dress style is! I found these dresses to be fairly true to size, however I don't think it would hurt to size up slightly, because it's important to leave room for any alterations that may need to be made. I was given these wedding dresses for free by YesStyle, but this video is not sponsored. All opinions are my own, and i'd love to hear your opinions in the comment section! Please give us a thumbs up on this video if you'd like to see more wedding dress related content.
- NOTE - sorry guys!! I just realised I accidentally inserted the wrong image at 43:04! It was meant to be a photo I took but my editing program switched it out for a photo I show later on in the video T_T

    My cousin bought to YesStyle dresses. She loved the top of one and the bottom of the other. So she cut them in half and sewed the top and bottom she loved together. With the other fabric, she made the ring bearer pillow, the bridesmaids sashes, the petticoat for her dress and her own veil.

    I worked for awhile at a bridal shop and the things their seamstress could do to dresses... Well, she was a magician. Those sleeves on the 400 dollar dress we actually did something like that there. She sew the extensions in the back and I embroidered the beads following the original pattern. The thing about those high-end dresses is that they come with a package of their beads and sometimes with extra trimmings and lace as well so shops can make alterations for the bride. I must admit that out of these dresses the two expensive ones would have been good cheap options at the shop. They got their dresses out of Paris and one of my jobs was to steam them straight out of the package. Some of them looked alot like the 400 dollar dress. Eh. Bridal mode, it is sort of a slow thing. But I really liked the 400 dollar dress it seemed to be the only one that was really well thought out. Something about the most expensive just looked really cheap to my eyes. Like the embroidery was sort of cold coloured but the skirt part seemed more warm toned. Or something. Hard to pinpoint. But the creamy dreamy feel of the third dress just looks to be of quality. Truth be told I’ve seen 2000 euro dresses that would pale in comparison. But maybe that is just my opinion.

    This was so interesting to read, thank you for your insight 😁. I agree that the $400 dress can stand up against some high end dresses! I didn’t know that some high end brands send extra beading - that’s a fantastic idea 😊💓

    Yeah, “Paris”. They were probably from China in all honesty. No way were French workers are being paid to make a dress like that for $400, they’d cost a lot more even if they looked the same. If they were actually sent from Paris to your shop, they probably shipped them in from China and sent them on from Paris.

    @Jay Bee, honey I don’t know how they work out in your part of the world but I’m from northern europe. The boss lady who owned the shop made shopping trips to Paris herself to pick up the styles she wanted from the makers she trusted. And those dresses Did Not cost 400 dollars. So if she said they were made in France, I had no reason to not trust her.

    With the third dress, that's just how off the shoulder wedding dresses are, they severely restrict your arm movements. I got married in a gorgeous off the shoulder gown and I could not do that photo where the bride holds her bouquet behind her husband shoulders. I just could not lift my arms that high. Granted I had more movement than you had, but you will never have full range movement with this style. You definitely sacrifice function for beauty with this design. It didn't bother me because I knew that was part and parcel of the style and it was worth the photos for me

    Actually, speaking from someone who sews Dresses. It's Not meant to be Like that. The bodice is to short. I don't know your Dress but If you Had that, that May be the Point of it... 🙄 Just Something to think about

  • @ambergaillard

    @ambergaillard

    4 жыл бұрын

    I does depend on the look you want, but if you want the sleeve to be fairly tight against your arm to give that shape then it necessitates there be less movement, obviously if you are happy with a looser lower hanging sleeve that is a different story but that wasn't the shape I wanted. If you want the tight sleeve like that third dress has, fabric dependent obviously as well, then it will restrict your movement.

    @@ambergaillard ok but what if they use a stretchy material on the inside of the arms where the sleeve is connected to the dress. Like that you could get a fuller range of motion

  • @ambergaillard

    @ambergaillard

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@icansurviveuniversity.imra1405 That is an option if you aren't so fussy on fabric definitely. If the outer sleeve is ruffled so there's more fabric to work with and the inner sleeve is stretchy, or the whole lot is made with a fabric with more give, or you have gaping between the sleeve and your arm, that all improves range of motion. I had a solid satin sleeve, with lining and with an embroidered organza overlay and I didn't want any 'rippling' in the fabrics. I did have more range of motion than Alex, the sleeve on the third dress is lower down on her arm than mine was. So it also depends where on your arm you want the sleeve to sit, where the sleeve attaches to the bodice etc etc.

  • @gnu740

    @gnu740

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@johanna6924 I think you're right, the sleeves and bodice do seem to sit a little low on Alex, especially from the back. If it fit correctly, it'd still have restricted movement but not to the same extent.

    Aerin Boyce that is exactly what I did. Picked out a beautiful dress that I knew was the one. But that dress was $2000 at David’s bridal and we couldn’t really afford it on our small budget. (We paid for everything ourselves). Just happened to walk by the prom dresses and saw the exact same dress without a train, about half as poofy, and a button lined hidden zipper instead of real buttons for $199. It worked out well in the end though because we lost our church (due to illness and stubbornness in the preacher not wanting another in his pulpit) a week before the wedding and had to find another at short notice so ended up in a tiny country church that would not have worked well in the more expensive much bigger dress. It ended up beautiful and just the wedding we didn’t know we wanted after all of the tears and frustration over the church. It was so pretty down in the country and we were able to take all of our pictures on sight instead of having to travel elsewhere. It was a perfect dress and a perfect day.

    The fact that Alex acknowledges that there are so many people who can't afford a 3000$ dress (which in wedding dress money is not that much) makes me just love her even more. I'm so glad there are still some youtubers out there that still know how expensive life can be. Sending love Alex 💕

    My best friend was super budget wedding. She got herself so wound up she got stuck in a rut so 1 Month before her wedding I dragged her out dress shopping. She was very non traditional so when she fell in love (happy tears and all) with this gorgeous black cocktail dress for $60 USD I said sold and bought it on the spot. She looked gorgeous on her wedding ❤️

    Threads on a dress out of the package is a very normal thing. After they are received in a boutique they are steamed an clipped before you see them. Strings will come on designer dresses as well. Then... the under lace is a Chantilly lace layer.

    There's a dressmakers kind of tale, that the number of buttons on your wedding dress represents the years that you're going to be married. I often had to sew A LOT more buttons on wedding dresses that I altered. (on time I had to sew them all the way down to the seam and there was a very long train attached to the dress!) Maybe this explains why there are often buttons that doesn't do anything to the dress. 😊

    These are all more beautiful than I expected. 21 years ago, I was lucky enough to find an off the rack dress that was about 75% off the original price. I paid $500 including alterations. I used a circlet of wild flowers in place of a veil. You can get pretty things on a tight budget you just need to think creatively. The first dress, for the price, was really quite lovely. I liked the simplicity of it.

    As for the restrictive sleeves, I would carefully unstitch and take the fabric sleeve piece all of the the way to where the piece meets where the ribbon ties in the back and add a piece of fabric there, also moving the loopholes for the ribbin to the new piece. I'd then add a piece of matching lace(I'm OCD so it must match impeccably) and stitch it to the fabic, covering the seem of added piece, seamlessly extending the entire top, sleeve from front to ribbon on back. To make sure the sleeves stay in place off the shoulder, I'd stitch in some elastic on the inside. The sleeves would no longer restrict and also wouldn't fall down. The entire sleeve to back would all match as well, looking as if it were all one piece to begin with.

    I bought my dress on eBay from a guy who had his fiance leave after taking her bridal pictures in it (it's a southern US thing, they hadn't altered the dress up to that point), for $375, including a veil I hated and resold for $75. It fit my torso perfectly, but I'm not 5' tall, so it had to be shortened. It had colored flowers at the bottom of the dress, so the seamstress "lifted" the skirt by cutting the waist and then resewing it into another waist. I don't remember how much that cost. It was a dress I tried on at a shop and loved, but I paid for my own dress and retail was $1500, WAY out of my budget. I was going to either resell it or donate it, but the overlay tore and I got frosting from our cake on it, which was aqua blue because our cake was an island on water with a sand castle on top, so the blue frosting went on the dress. So I still have it, almost 15 years later.

  • @beingWantable
    @beingWantable4 жыл бұрын

    It's not Yesstyle. Yesstyle is just like amezon - a collection of brands/a distributor. They don't have their own stuff. It's mostly Chinese and Korean brands that have stuff on Yesstyle. They are however way more curated compared to wish/alibaba/ali express. Also in China there is no copyright system for foreign brands, which means that they can use pictures and copy products all they want...

    My favorite dress was definitely the third one! It reminded me of Belle's dress. She's my favorite Disney princess. It would definitely be an easy fix to cut the sleeves and sew on some elastic bands to give more room to maneuver. I also liked the sleeves of the second dress. I felt like the fourth one looked the least like the picture. If you look closely, the model in the picture is wearing a dress with a high collar that wraps around the back of her neck. The sleeves were still cool though. They reminded me of a coral reef.

    I wasn't able to lift my arms at my wedding and it was really just fine. I had long sleeves that weren't stretchy, but I was able to do the things I needed to, and my bridesmaids/husband were there to help with anything I couldn't manage. However, I didn't dance outside of the traditional first dance and father daughter dance and it probably wouldn't have been comfortable to. So it really depends on you and what sort of wedding you're having as to the practicality.

    This is so helpful. I totally get the fear of buying such an important dress on a budget online and not being able to try it on first and then being rushed if it's not what you wanted. My best friend is getting married and we (bride and bridesmaids) are already freaking out about the dresses for her and for us, simply because we don't have that many affordable boutiques near us that sell dresses in all sizes. At the moment we're thinking about buying dresses from JJ's House so the video you made beforehand was so helpful but we're still really unsure about it because it's still going to coat a hefty sum.. I guess I just wanted to thank you for doing videos like this 🥰
