I mean... they both play so beautifully and flawlessly. I wouldn't compare because they're still both filled with immense talent. Even more now than when they played this.

This makes me appreciate SooBeen Lee's performance even more. Either intentionally or otherwise, you can hear Yesong play slowly and try to enunciate each sound clearly here (which I absolutely love), while the 12-year old with a strong eyebrow game blazes through the whole piece with ease and poise

No ur wrong. I heard Yesong play a recital recently and soobeen is not even close to achieving what Yesong has achieved. Plus soobeen is 3 years older

thomas davies the violin she was playing looks to be a full size, I guess her chin is just proportionally smaller than an adults

I'm a bit late, but I think I have a good answer. The chin rest appears to be padded, so it's size probably is to account for the missing shoulder rest. Playing without a shoulder rest helps with sound production and tone, but makes the violin harder to hold

She is from the United States and made her orchestral debut with the Seattle Symp. Orch. at age 8

I don't like the part between 4:50 and 5:06 but the rest is perfect. Edit : I don't like the piece itself, the interpretation is fine.

@@fiayingzhou2892 I was talking about the song, not the interpretation. Maybe the technicality is interesting but to my ear it's just ugly. Wieniawski must be the thing young people play to get better but it's of no interest for a noob audience only looking for harmony.
