It's a tuning arms race over in the US. Absolute madlads over there when it comes to tuning. They are throwing any sort of combination of mods and tuning it. I haven't heard much of them blowing up so far so that is promising but time will tell.

Great review, keen to see more of the future mods you mention and see how much reliable power you can squeez out of the new wrx. Also GC8 STI build would be a great watch, they are still a very capable performance car with a few mods and so much lighter than modern sports cars.

Just a quick pointer lads, the snap on TPMS tool should be able to recode your sensors to not show pressure. I had an Infiniti q60 sport in and was able to turn the sensors off. Not sure if they are coded to work with this model, but can be done. Cheers. Subaru should also be able to turn them off with their select monitor scan tool.

Looking for a replacement car for the old man's WZ Fiesta ST he's owned since new which is his daily, trouble free motoring for 200,000km now. The only two cars on the list for its replacement are this new WRX and the i30N hatch, both in manual, nothing else on the market for $50K these days, absolute joke. Thanks for the update on the WRX, keep the WRX content coming.

More POWEEEERRRR ! So if you do get some new calipers / rotors and up the boost what would you be in it for including the noise wheels tyres and shocks? About 12k over RRP? Not even gunna think about the $1600 sensors- The seppos will have a fix for that soon. Keep passing them land cruisers 🤣 90s JDM? Is anything cheap anymore? I dunno where all those cars went I assume the crusher. Be interesting to see what ya find - back 15 years ago when in sheep shagger land across the pond there was a plethora of JDM cars that they imported not sure if it would be cost effective to import one from there or Japan though. And the kiwis drive their cars into the ground I'd be wary. Anyways I'm off like a Jewish foreskin keep up the vids 👍

hopefully its a good tuning platform, US dyno numbers are garbage, 400whp in US is like 280whp in aus. those stock brakes look garbage, put something aggressive looking at least on a sports car i like the objective review thanks for calling subaru out for the $470 wheel sensors

Pretty sure you'd need more than 280whp to run 120+mph in one of these.

I think you will appreciate the new wrx more if you buy a gc8. Yes the gc8 is a bit more raw. But in wrx form they are slow by today's standards. So then you drop 20k ? 30k ? To bring it up to a sti spec or better? Then you go gosh I really wish I got the sti. Then you realise you always wanted the 2 door. You buy it and it's slow. Then you realise you really wanted the 22b . But you can't afford one anyway. So if you are a gc8 fan (like me. A blue one ofcoarse) just buy the 2 door at very least. Maybe you can get one of your USA fans to ship a 2 door shell over and swap him or her a few barra's

We used to own a GF8 wagon, would buy another if the right one popped up. But yes people forget what they are like in std form.

90s car, since you love k swaps, Buy the cheapest non runner Honda beat you can find, k swap it. The power to weight ratio will be killer.

Pro tip, I find it a little more convenient to turn the AC button to an Auto AC button instead. This adjust Fan Speed and Temp to get to your desired set temp as fast as possible. Settings -> Climate Control -> Auto

Thanks for that. I'm not a fan of AC on all the time in general I've always preferred to drive with the window down. I guess l grew up without it.

Whoever at Subaru thought to put black plastic cladding all over the sides of the WRX was a dummy. I just can't get passed that look. I hope the 2024 models do away with the Crosstrek look.

Test drove an auto version of this and performance was pretty disappointing. I also heard this strange noise coming from the rear of the car which put me off. Very well appointed interior in the top of the range model though after driving it I wouldn't buy one.
