I think I had to be five or six at the time. He was not big on fixing young girls hair but he tried so I have to give him props for that.

What a shame there are some "flamers" commenting here. I used to investigate child abuse, and some of the things (straight) fathers did to their kids was a disgrace. Selena has a loving caring father who is so patient with the process of braiding her hair, even doing a trail run before the actual date of her performance. She's blessed to have such unconditional love.

I love French Braids. I had my hair done in a French Braid for every dance and my prom. Selena was looking at you while you were explaining how it was done like "Quit talking about it and just do it" *laughs* I remember giving looks like that myself when I was her age. :) - Heidi

She is so lucky that dad can do her hair. My mom didn't know how to braid so any hair I learned was from the girls at school that taught myself. I then taught my sister ;) My dad was out of the question when it came to hair.

The moment you said that you enjoy having those moments of sharing with your kids really got into my head. I remember my childhood being me trying to tell my parents something and they just ignoring me. I got jealous =P.

I learned to do hair the same way. My Mom insisted I brush her hair while she was watching her soap operas. Then, I'd start noticing hairstyles the actresses had and would attempt to replicate it.

Driving home after school.. my favorite Father-Daughter Time! My daughter is now 13 and spending the entire summer with me (unfortunately, a split household).. I have to brush up on my skills.. Thanks Guys!

I think it came out really pretty! When I tried doing this braid on myself I had to put both sections into hair ties first, like little pony tails, before I started cuz I couldn't keep em separate lol I love how you guys use that time to have good talks, those times with our dads become very meaningful as we get older :-)

My dad was always the one to brush my hair, though my mom did braiding. As for stage makeup, it is hard to use to much, it's not like regular makeup. Though I can count on my fingers how many times I have worn it (or any makeup).

This is maybe a random question, but in the same vain of makeup-hair-jewelry etc. But when I was a kid and growing up I wanted to have my own individual style and such, so I begged and pleaded for my family to let me get what I wanted. This included getting my ear pierced (just the left one- since I'm a guy lol). And then at 18 to finally get more piercing and tattoo (some they know about, others they don't). I was wondering about Selena, and when you decided to let her wear make-up, get her ear pierced and such. One of my good friends who I met while in summer stock years ago is going through that with her first child, a girl, Page, and she wants to wear make-up and get her ears pierced and shop for herself. Her mother is having a hard time dealing with it, since Page is only 7 right now.

Hey Guys! David from a small town in Ontario here. What a beautiful family you have! If I had these videos available on the internet when I was a teenager how different my life would have been but in those olden days we were just starting to play pong on our ataris lol. I just wondered if you have any thoughts on all these movies coming out lately with biblical themes and this latest one which scared me by coming to my theatre for one night called "Irreplaceable" put out by "Focus on the Family". According to Wikipedia and Dan Savage it's a hate group that tries to influence public policy. As Dan Savage says this group and many others are trying to repeal the 20th century. Since I live in Canada where we all have equal rights I just scratch my head at what's still going down there and in Russia and Uganda. Please keep up the good work and keep us visible!
