For some reason I really enjoy seeing a girl group having the power to choose to do a concept that is 100% covered up, loose clothes. It's about the artistry, it's about the concept, it's about the vibe. They don't have to put on tight and revealing clothes. I'm fine with women expressing sexuality, it's just refreshing to NOT have that centered. I'm tired of feeling like women have to be sexy first before we can even exist. So I love this.

My age is different. My country is far far away. My culture is so different. My musical influences and background is different. But somehow I find these women (singing, rapping, dancing), these song (lyrics, music, production) and this MV simply PERFECT. And the details OMG. They're so good.

I love how (G)i-dle can always send messages through their songs, it's not just a song but a mockery directed at those men who want their wife to be a housewife. That's why the girls don't sing in the music video, it's a reference to an old phrase that says "shut up, you look prettier" I think.

after examining the lyrics I realize the song is about how a wife who does everything for their man but is left unsatisfied emotionally and sexually even when they had to clean, bear children ("bake a cake"), and were expected to give their virginity (the cherry on top). "want me to be your wife but she is...umm...", refers to the unsatisfaction, with "she" being a reference to the wife themselves rather than another woman. Chop, chop, chop from head to toe refers to keeping beauty standards such as shaving, but still they're not being touched. Overall a pretty fun and refreshing song! EDIT: I see a lot of men with unsatisfied "wives" in the comments lol.

Cream soup is not supposed to taste anything like cocoloco (a drink made from Bolivia with strong alcohol content), so what's something else that husbands tend to like their wife "cooking" that's creamy if you catch my drift. That's a really cheeky way of saying that they don't just want to do THAT either.

This song has such a deep meaning about what society thinks of a typical house wife, but G-IDLE don't want any women living in this generation to become that typical wife who's live only revolves around their husband and their each and every act is only done in order to please there husband. I'm loving this sort of "New Wave" Satirical style that (G)I-DLE are into writing since at least their last couple of comebacks... Everything feels like it's a parody of society, a parody of POP even. Like Jeon Soyeon is deconstructing the very fabric of existence and poking fun at it. That woman is an artist and she has something to say. Best we all listen.

Well said. I feel like she puts so much thought into the message she’s trying to convey, that it’s over our heads. People don’t catch it. Her songs are all bops, but there’s so much more meaning beyond that… especially her recent releases. Allergy & Queencard are loaded with context.. she was definitely making a point, but to the general populous it’s just a fun song. She deserves so much respect and recognition as does the entire group. It really behooves us fans to dig deep into the lyrics and find out what point she’s making… I respect Soyeon because she really wants to have a positive impact on society through her music. She’s doing an incredible job💘🙏🏽

This is one of their most creative songs ever. The way Soyeon has made the lyrics to be as nonsensical as possible to make it difficult to pin point its original intention can only be possible bcos shes just an amazing song writer.

The fact that gidle is able to dress each member exactly the same and still maintain so much individuality is seriously impressive

Soyeon is a genius and she doesn't do anything by mistake. She'll always be my bias, though it's almost impossible to choose a favorite. (G)I-DLE is so talented. Every part of every song is always perfectly crafted for each member. They put so much thought into their art! Yuqi really stands out to me in this song/video and Miyeon had a great rap. I am so excited for this whole album. They are so unique. There is nobody like (G)I-DLE.

Two parallel things I love about this MV. The minimalist setting allows us to focus on and appreciate the complex editing and camera work. In much the same way with the unorthodox styling, it allows us to focus on and appreciate the choreography and how gorgeous their faces are :D

By far this is the coolest KPop song and MV of 2024. I love the looks, the dance, the video edit, the music and everything.

(G)i-dle's new song WIFE is a satirical take on society's view of women, deeming them only useful as wives. It also seems they are dressed alike as women are they same to all men. the song is also basically calling their spouse useless because they pointed out how they cleaned the partner's room even though it's the partner's shared responsibity. It especially illustrates the way such a relationship mostly benefits the man. ( I didn’t write this it’s from a tweet from twitter, but I think it give you a better understanding of the song )

I’ve just noticed this but when they pronounce “Want me your wife, but she is,” it sounds like they’re saying “Want me to wipe your sh*t.” I think this is what Soyeon intended to do and I like that version much better! Soyeon also did this during the pre-chorus when Miyeon says “what's the loss to me? ya” it’s pronounced like a curse word in Korean. Props to Soyeon and the producers who use the pronunciation to further enhance the meaning to both English and Korean speakers!

When they say "want me your wife, but she is umm umm umm", they're basically saying "yeah no I'm not gonna be your traditional wife bish" So yeah that's the gist of what I understand about this song.
