Yellowtail Snapper vs Grunt | Key Largo Offshore catch n cook

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today in Key Largo I head offshore with Craig on my boat in search of some fish to put in the pan. This episode I do a catch n cook where I compare yellowtail snapper to the famous grunt.

In this video:
We have a bit of a late start since I had to put the boat in the water and then it turned out the battery was dead and then my jumper died so we had to do some manual cranking to get this fishing trip in action.
We run out of tavernier creek and run offshore to 130-250 feet and troll around hoping to find some mahi, wahoo or tuna. The weather was a little weird and we were getting beat up a bit. Some storm clouds started appearing. Man I want to catch a wahoo so bad, I have yet to catch one off Key Largo. The last time I caught one was off fort pierce.
Before heading in we drift the reefs edge between 35-80feet. This is where I hook up on a few small yellowtail. These yellowtail snapper are too small for a catch and cook. I must catch a bigger fish. I'm starting to get desperate and then catch a grunt...
Now normally I would throw this grunt back but I'm so hungry I keep it because I want to cook it. Then we catch a couple keeper yellowtail snapper also. looks like this will be a good catch n cook after all! You might be wondering, how does grunt taste? It actually tastes really good, so this should be interesting to see how it compares to the yellowtail snapper.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
I fry both the grunt and the yellowtail in this catch n cook and compare the 2. Both fish taste amazing, but hands down the yellowtail snapper wins. I still love the taste of grunt and any fishing trip where things are going slow i'll probably put a grunt in the box if it comes down to it...
If you enjoyed this video hit that like button and subscribe to my channel, I appreciate all the help you guys give me in the comments and look forward to making many more videos to help show how to catch fish.

Every key largo and palm beach boat I see constantly has water in the back on the deck and ones with 4 strokes are way worse a couple large rubber screw plugs between the splashwell and interior deck will solve that problem

I don't know if you read all your messages or not but I see you descale a lot of fish so if you want a fast and efficient way of the scaling with just a home tool all you need is a drill cordless or cord and a wood screw and cut the wood screw head off put it in your drill and tighten it up put your drill in reverse and in a couple seconds you have a completely descaled fish you will be blowing away if you try this guarantee it works I do it all the time

Heiko, just wondering why do you leave the head on the fish when you cook it? Does that add flavor? One thing I learned from your video the possibility of hand cracking my motor if the starter takes a shit. Never thought of doing that. Keep up the nice videos man. Living vicariously through you from cold ass Chicago.

Cooking is obviously not your strong suit especially fish you put the oil up way too high and the fish wasn't cooked Enough in the middle wolfish have more of a farm flakier texture.. Yours was not done inside, and to just right on the outside... Lower your heat cook a little longer, and get it perfect
