    I worked in the park in 85 at Mammoth, 91 at Old Faithful, and 95 in Grant Village. I need to get back there. But I do not drive. So it will be on my bicycle. Maybe August, depends on the roads I guess. Thank you for this quick tour. The Norris Geyser basin is my favorite place. Stay safe.

    I am thinking you was such heartfelt feelings… I grew up in Montana I have visited the park on many occasions with my family and until 20 years ago when both of my parents passed away I would come home and visit every year with my family… we live in Connecticut where I moved with my husband of 52 years about 50 years ago… But as you wrote the part in this video every stop brought up memories to me… Very happy memories and I am using it to show my grandchildren because I wanna wish before I get too old and that will be a while I am 70 now but I don’t consider myself old… But my one wish is to somehow find a way to bring my seven grandchildren out to Montana show them everything from Rushmore to devils tower to Wyoming and Montana Yellowstone… What are used to come from Missoula down to Bozeman and down I think it’s 89 to Gardner and stay overnight Gardner and Then Circle, Park and end up in West Yellowstone for a couple two or three nights while we continue to enjoy the park and it’s beautiful spectacular sight… Then we start back across to Melrose and find our way to Bannack --hit the Berkeley Pit Butte sometimes but mostly head up route 93 to Hamilton to visit my brother on up to Missoula to visit relatives and stop and Arlee to visit my sister and then head on up to Flathead Lake and Kalispell to see my brother and then of course make the loop up going to the Sun Highway and see glacier Park and don’t forget to go all the way around to see many glacier Lodge and the view from the other end of the lake… Oh my gosh I’m taking you on my chore and I was busy talking about yours lol you’re doing a fantastic job I love your site and I will continue to watch it thank you for the happy memories.

    Wow, you sure picked a nice day for the tour--and all that green, green grass, beautiful! "Bison Jam", ha! I think I've experienced at least one every time I've been to Yellowstone. Seeing those empty parking spots, it appears the odd/even plate thing seems to be keeping the crowds down a bit. I understand the policy might mess up plans for some but fewer people in the park is a good thing.

    Great mini tour…. thank you…brings back some great memories. I spent a week in July in a Yellowstone cabin in 2013… never again. I love Yellowstone but just too many people.. I’m going back in the shoulder season. An empty parking lot on the south loop? Not when I went… even that huge lot at Old Faithful was full and it kind of sucks the beauty of seeing a thermal feature when you have to walk a mile to get to the parking lot.

  • @Don-md6wn

    @Don-md6wn

    I agree. The shoulder seasons and winter are the only times I would visit the national parks that attract huge summer crowds. I visited Yellowstone in the first week of October, 2019. It was very cold and portions of the Loop Road were closed at times due to ice, but crowds were reasonable and it was a great experience.

    Man, I've had bison give be the stink eye a couple of feet from me (while I'm in a car), what do you do when you're on a bike? Crowds aren't as bad as I thought they'd be, but there are still like 5 to 10 times the number of people I run into after labor day. The bacteria mats in the Upper Geyser basin are a lot more colorful than the ones around Prismatic. Nice tour. You pretty much show why you need several days in the park just to explore the sights along the loop road. And that's just the loop road... Just some trivia, the canyon is where the park gets its name. The Minnetaree Indians called this place "Mitsia-Dazi", and the French Explorers called it "Roche Jaune". Both translate losely to Yellow Rock River. It was the Americans that gave it it's final name of "Yallerstone", lol... Yeah, everyone should do the Brink of the Upper Falls, very easy access. I've often been tempted to go down to the brink of the lower falls. I don't think the 500' going down would be bad, but it'd probably kill me trying to get back up. They need to install escalators. 😁

    The fishing has returned too. My beloved trout have done ok. I'm sure a lot of the small ones got pushed downstream somewhere, but trout bounce back. Still, theyre catching them pretty decently. I'll be there the first week of August. This trip will be different for me. Normally I camp outside Yellowstone seldom going into the park itself. This year I planned on 3 days in the park. So it looks like two days in the park and the middle day when I cannot enter due to my plate # I'll be exploring the towns of west Yellowstone and Jackson. I'm even planning on a motel stay for a day up in cooke city.
