15 years ago, my girlfriend and I broken up by choice. Hurt me to the bones and this song brought trampled effects to my heart. This was actually my greatest break-up song! We got back each other two years after. She is my wife now and happily married for 11 years. This masterpiece brings me chills and goosebumps every time and is now making me fall in love to her over and over again. She is my all, my everything and my only one!
"Yellowcard's 'Only One' brings back so many nostalgic memories. This song has a timeless quality that never fails to touch my heart."

Happy you’re enjoying life!!! It’s a beautiful thing!!
I'm 37 years-old this year (2023) - officially entering my middle-age - and I listened to this song on loop for an entire year after their Ocean Avenue CD originally released. I bought it *BEFORE* everyone knew who they were, because I had been a fan of some of their previous songs (like October Nights and For Pete's Sake) from their previous album (One For the Kids) after I had been exposed to it on the 2001 XBOX game *Amped.* 🤙 I remember it was 2004 and instead of starting college that year (Class of 04)... I was instead *REAPEATING* 12th grade (again). I failed my last year of High School and was really depressed over losing my friends as a result; I was also dealing with some (MEGA) heavy/bad stuff going on at home that had me really messed up and in a dark place (partly why I failed in the first place)... and then there was _this girl_ that I had been pining-over (who was two years younger than me) who I had a serious crush on for over two years... but like the movies and songs, she didn't even know I existed (cheer leader type). 😑 So, I remember that I listened to this song (specifically) on repeat over-and-over on the new 'no-skip' portable CD player I bought from my first ever part-time job flipping burgers, for the 1-hour bus ride I had every-single-morning too AND from school, during my senior year to help me cope; Ryan Keys anthems of rebellion and lost loves always made me both empowered... and honestly depressed at the same time (I guess, I was a bit of a reluctant first-gen modern American emo)... 🤷 The funny thing is that this song still hits in a weird way - I know it shouldn't at this point given where people my age SHOULD be in life... but I guess it does for me specifically. I'm 37 and I STILL haven't found that special girl who gets me (Probably won't now), and I still feel out of place with the people around me because I have so little in common with the people my own age. None of the same life experiences, none of the same experiences with relationships, and really little in common financially either... so oddly enough this song STILL depresses me, because it reminds me of days that I never would have imagined I would look back as *'BETTER DAYS.'* 🫡 lol, crazy how life works out. Here's me pouring one out for broken kids, with broken dreams to become my fellow F**ckups screaming into middle-age - let's soak our woes and regret with thoughts of better days: _"Too better days, and better music - here's to those lost kids, those dreamers we used to be, and what could have been if things had been different. They deserved better from the world... but at least they had d@mn good music!"_ 🍺

I'm also 37 and feel exactly like you feel brother, it's alright, never lose hope, just keep on cultivating and expanding yourself, some people get married, have kids and all that jazz that normal people do, but later on they start to feel something is missing. People like us, are somewhat going the opposite road but it's ok, just do what you like, people can be happy in a number of different ways that doesn't necessarily involve going the traditional route, it's all part of life.
This song will never get old! Who's here listening after August 2020?

From Malaysia bro, I masih lagi ingat abis skolah, lari keluar balik umah sambil nyayi lagu ni. Best days...
This song was dedicated by my first boyfriend 10 years ago. We broke up after two years. He went on his life for his career. I was finding love in wrong places and wrong people. But guess what? Love moves in mysterious ways. After 10 years just this year after we became right people, we started seeing each other again. Just yesterday he sang the line "there's just no one, no one like you". I will always love this song.
When you hear this song, you just HAVE to scream along to the chorus no matter where you are, it’s mandatory
The words make me cry... been so long since I've heard this song. DAMN. THAT CHORUS. The way he shouts can match how you might be shouting in your head. Love/Hate this song...

At 33, this song still hits me like a ton of bricks. Makes me feel human again despite all the shit that's happened since back then. Just wish it didn't hurt so much.
Ya know ... Since I was very young , I started loving rock and punk music ... And back then I was learning a violin ... My old friends used to discourage me saying that a violin is not cool , can't play rock songs , Why didn't you pick up guitar etc . Back then , the idea of violin playing rock songs was almost ludicrous... That was before I heard this song and got to know this legendary band ... Yellowcard proved me wrong , proved my friends wrong , proved anyone in the world who thought a violin can't play rock songs wrong ... This band opened my eyes and inspired me ... Yellowcard For Life !!!

what about Dream Theater?
In High School the only thing that kept me going was music and Yellowcard is one of the bands that helped me out in my time of need.
I never stop listening to all music of 2000-2010 it always give chills.
One of the best songs ever.

90s kids are the greatest generation ever for real I love each and every one of you awesome people
There is no going back. But these will be reminder how good the music is. Still banger and still only one ❤
I wish punk rock was mainstream again, this kind of music was so awesome. Hard to believe it's been 2 decades since I was a teenager!!
i friggin' love this song. yellowcard, simple plan, blink-182, The AAR, good charlotte, sum 41 and paramore. Mann the pop punk scene was lit at the turn of the new Millennium.
melhor música pra sempre
I had my headphones on listening to this song while I jumped out of a plane 90,000 feet high. Don’t let this song die

It's actually a fact that music has gotten worse in the 10's compared with the 00's - there's interesting videos on the matter. I would gess part of the reason is that youtube views count towards chart success, enabling controversial videos set to awful music (e.g. Anaconda) to hit the charts without people actually liking the song. This has nothing to do with nostalgia or similar.
"im part of an awesome band gotta use my trusty violin to make some great melodies in the background"-violin dude I really like how the violin fits in the music just freat (still amazed about it for years)

This song makes me want to remember all those other songs that hit me the way this did.
2024 anyone...peace and love to all
If you compare this song and today's song. Oh wait, I'm sorry. Todays music is not worth comparing to this one. This one is a Legend.

That violin hits really hard.
21 years later and this is STILL hitting hard. A masterpiece, folks. Truly.
Broken this fragile thing now And I can't, I can't pick up the pieces And I've thrown my words all around But I can't, I can't give you a reason I feel so broken up (so broken up) And I give up (I give up) I just want to tell you so you know Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you You are my only one I let go, there's just no one that gets me like you do You are my only, my only one Made my mistakes, let you down And I can't, I can't hold on for too long Ran my whole life in the ground And I can't, I can't get up when you're gone And something's breaking up (breaking up) I feel like giving up (like giving up) I won't walk out until you know Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you You are my only one I let go, there's just no one who gets me like you do You are my only, my only one Here I go so dishonestly Leave a note for you my only one And I know you can see right through me So let me go and you will find someone Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you You are my only one I let go, there's just no one, no one like you You are my only, my only one My only one My only one My only one You are my only, my only one

I would wait for this song to come on Fuse back in the early 2000s, man did I find some solid bands/songs and try to get the vhs to record asap.
Esta cancion me transporto a mis 16 años epoca dorada.

I remember this song played in my radio oftenly when I still in senior high school

I like that the stress is on 'only' instead of 'one' when he sings.
When I was in middle school I loved this album so much and gifted it to a girl that fellow girl classmates encouraged me into a relationship with for valentines day. All the girls in school made fun of me for giving her a used CD, I was at the time from a poor upbringing and was so ashamed. Now I think back and listen to this song and smile at my past because the little heartbreaking moments are memories which lead us experience wise to the true love in your present/future life.
my break up song in 2010. now I'm playing this right now while nursing my newborn daughter. how time flies.
