Yelawolf Talks Ferguson + Raising A Biracial Child

Ойын-сауық

Yelawolf stopped by Ebro In The Morning and shared an important conversation on the issues of race and how it affects him and his bi-racial son.
On top of just race, they also spoke about the outstanding issue with police and shared their personal encounters with law enforcement, as well as what influenced his "arena music" sound.

honestly im a pretty liberal guy, but the way that this guy ebro conducts interviews, asks questions, and the way his views are presented it comes off as being a demagogue on race issues and it also comes across as being very condescending as if every single white person remotely associated with hip hop needs to be checked by this dude to make sure there not "stealing" what he feels is copyrighted and trademarked by black people

For you people who may not know the Southern way of life (Northerners etc etc). We live by a different standard in the south. You don't have to be black to struggle down here. There are no segregated communities or schools. You live amongst one another. Poor w/ poor, wealthy w/ wealthy.

The north is the same way. Just because you are black/white does not mean you live with all blacks/white. You live where you can afford or are comfortable. The far west, and south western, areas are pretty big on race. Communities of just a specific race, or attacking people because they are a different race. Not all of it is like that, but it's a common problem you hear about when you hear about New Mexico, Arizona, California, etc.

Damn man I'm black (since that suppose to validate my statement these days) and I'm sick and tired of all these race issues, it needs to be talked about of course but I'm seeing a race divide between people again when it should never matter, why can't we have respect for those that are real to themselves, actually talented and that show respect for the culture and not leave everything up to race all the time, we are all human beings and we should all treat each other as such, like Kendrick said, fuck your ethnicity

I feel you bro but I'm talking about the ignorant people who actually have all these racial things to say about everything you know? That shit upsets me because we have came so far only to walk backwards and say I only love my race or that this person doesn't belong instead of having love for all human beings, but you're right everyone doesn't have that mentality and I respect the ones who don't so respect man thanks for your comment

Nah man, i understand completely. I experience it everday and witness others as well. Shouldve clarified. We have to address the people furthering the problem, without losing sight of the vast amount of people who are making the world a better place. Like this conversation starting from your discontent and expressing it. Much respect bro. I commented to show respect and be at least one person who could be the change and bring some optimism in this scenario.

Thanks man, I guess even if someone is trolling or is in strong conviction of their beliefs and very adamant of the things I disagree with wholeheartedly I have to still be able to keep my cool and not let it blind my foresight in everyone just loving all humans and respecting everyones culture and heritage because there is so much we can learn from one another if we are able to hold on to our culture and respect it and be willing to share it with others instead of saying oh no this is mine and you are white etc. so stay away, we have to learn that the world is bigger than just our block, ethnicity, culture, heritage, and race is only a socially systematic construct to keep us all segregated from one another, but like tupac said maybe people that share our vision can be the ones that plant the seed to others that may one day grow into the change that we want to see

At the end of the day i'm a human being and as i grow and get older i don't really think about race anymore it isn't important nor does it matter because at the end of the day we are all human beings and we are all equal no race is better than the other those are my thoughts.

I grew up listening to more rap than anything else, my mom grew up in LA raised on NWA and Tupac. Since I was a kid I been bumping rap. I was raised in it. And so were so many people, white black asian hispanic and etc. So honestly, unless a white guy starts shouting the N-word in a rap, shut up about it man. This rap, and hip hop is my culture now too. YelaWolf handled this interview perfectly. They pushed a few buttons but he was cool as shit. And stop blaming the radio people for doing their job, they have to ask these questions. I'm from Bulgaria and I follow all the big morning radio shows via KZread and I can honestly say this is the best station with the best hosts of them all.

well, this is exactly the point and what he is asking....how are you going to explain to your children that they will be treated differently because they look different than you essentially, and how will they deal with these situations when they are "targeted" due to their skin color? Not something you can relate to but something you have at least been to witness. This is why some ppl be lost cuz they parents ain't blatantly telling them what the fuck they will face out there.

He's stated he went through a phase where he hated his voice. Funny because after I heard him say that I always hear a nasally ass voice. I've never noticed his voice up until the point that he said something lol.

when i first heard Eminem had signed a white boy.. I immediately checked him out, and thought he was ass. His voice was weird to me. But after getting used to him and listening to his story, his music grew on me and he's one of my favorites now. He's one of the most underrated MC's imo
