YBA...... Has Changed

Ойындар

I've been playing this game since April 2020, that's a LONG time, and while I haven't quite been here since the start, I've seen a thing or two.

long time viewer here. i think one of the main reasons yba feels so different today than it does back then is simply because of how much larger it's become. it used have very simple graphics, easy to grasp mechanics, and a very nice feeling combat system. these days, that's all gone now. not to mention that with how convoluted and overpowered things are these days, it's even more of a hell for new players than it was prior. in all honesty, the game is still enjoyed by tens of thousands of people daily. but it's just that for myself, and many others, we aren't those people. and we aren't going to be. regardless, i hope uzu and the team still does well, as i can't deny the game is stunning visually and all. i just hope sometime that same spark it had before can be reignited. keep up the good work, big man.

i think another reason is how complicated the game is now, like a spec has the same amount of moves as a stand meaning u have to spend ages memorising every key on your keyboard just to be able to play 1v1's against sweaty players. at this rate specs are more so secondary stands having a barrage and all

I literally started to smile and cry with emotion watching the flashbacks at 18:18 I used to play since 4 months after release like Eclipse and fell off after Crazy Diamond's rework update, I felt the game wasn't the same, it was good and all but... me and my friends wasn't enjoying playing as much as we did before, and we didn't know why at the time. Thanks for being my favorite youtuber since 2021, Eclipse. I met you through YBA, stayed for you. I like to see this video as a letter to YBA and it's community as a whole, seeing the good, the bad and the ugly from 3 years of YBA. I enjoyed watching your videos in the morning before playing with my friends at night, and now I enjoy watching your videos besides don't playing the game for months, and see what the fuck are the devs doing with those new stands and reworks. Thank you Eclipse, I see you next time.

Nothing nostalgically hits harder than remembering hopping on yba after school and fighting the entire server with my friends. We used to literally discuss plans on how to counter the meta stands and where in the map we could run to for cover. I used to run sf Hamon for fun and actually got decent with it. Despite there actually being better/worse stands, you could play every stand and do okay if you know what you’re doing with that stand’s playstyle. They took that uniqueness and replay ability out by just making every spec have a combo. There’s no more character to it, it’s just another good looking jojo game with combos. It’s really sad something so special and well built upon was just replaced by what made it stick out.

Sucks how hard the game has changed so fast, old players like me (started 2020) literally can NOT deal with the new stuff. This hits so hard since I saw the uprise of eclipse's youtube channel (saw him go from 400 to where he is now), and being on the same level as him in terms of combat skill and game knowledge, I had a lot of common understandings, laughs, and grievances with his videos. And this? This hits like a truck, because I couldn't agree any more than I can right now. YBA may be good for the newer generation players, but oldgens like us just lost the game we once loved

i started playing yba around 6 months after you did. my join date says it was in November, but i got the prestige 1 badge on October 5th, 2020. this video really resonated with me, especially the latter half of it. i do miss the days of the best combat out of any roblox anime game, the days of eclipse playing telephone with the devs or tuning into tournament livestreams. some of the moments from the last little bit of the video, i watched those videos as soon as they came out, and i remember laughing at whatever silly incident happened in the clip. even though new yba has so many pros to old yba, old yba still will be yba's prime. not just for gameplay, balance, effects, but also the memories and the state of the game and whatnot. i also remember the week of the heaven update which added made in heaven and twoh, the game had 100k players. it's so hard to believe that the game had over 100k players for a solid while. but, oh well. good video, i think you really conveyed your thoughts well. cheers, eclipse.

I remember I got hooked on your channel when I saw the “YBA has fallen from grace” video and liked your style of making videos. I loved Yba from its simplicity and all the fun glitches that would happen, although some stuff was agonizing. It was a fun ride to play the game whether it was agonizing to grind or I got in heated gang wars. I stopped playing a year ago and faded away from your channel after trying to focus on other things. This just came in my recommendations and it was nostalgic to see all those old clips of your old videos of the game I once loved. Thank you Eclipse for the work you did in this community, and all the laughs you gave us.

YBA... has changed. It's no longer about balanced movesets, free flow combat, or having fun. It's an endless series of gang wars fought by sweats and one-shot combo users. YBA - and it's production of skins - has become a well-oiled machine. YBA has changed. ID-tagged players carry ID-tagged stands, use ID-tagged specs. Hamon infusion inside their bodies enhances and regulates their damage output. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. YBA has changed. The age of Balance has become the age of Skins... All in the name of averting catastrophe from revenue drops. And he who controls the skins... Controls the players. YBA has changed. When the players are under total control... Unbalanced reworks become routine.

I've been playing Mr President Hamon for a week now, and I noticed how FREE I could mash moves without getting punished. I can throw Zoom Punch, Scarlet Overdrive and Sendo Overdrive in neutral and not get punished with how giant the hitboxes are and how little endlag they have. Back then, throwing out Zoom Punch/Eye Gouge wildly was just gonna get your ass folded and lose half your hp with how small and commital they were. But landing them felt like you actually EARNED to land them. Eye Gouge was THE exemple of that : the longest spec stun in the game, but also the longest spec endlag and an extremely shitty hitbox. Landing it allowed you to confirm anything your stand have, with the only exception being lifeforms creation of GE/R and Road Roller, but missing it/having it cancelled meant your opponent could do that to you too and more. It was also extremely simple to keep track of cooldowns since every spec but Pluck had 3 moves at most.

I've watched almost all your videos since you started posting yba back in early 2020, your original guide video helped me so much, and where you, yba and I am in life are completely different. YBA is completely different to when I started it in december of 2019. I don't know where you are but I can tell it's way different then where you were back then. Where YBA is in comparison to before is drastically different. And where I am is drastically different, I got super into JJBA and YBA my freshmen year and now I'm a senior in HS and could care less about both of them, it's not yhe same game and doesn't have the same spark that ignited my passion (both jjba and yba).

I also started playing almost three years ago, and I agree with most of what you said. However, I feel like skins themselves aren't really that detrimental to the game on paper, but in reality, people have gotten WAYYY too addicted to them. It's to the point that a majority of people don't even want to improve on their combat skills. It was way easier to find a competent opponent to play a fun 1v1 back then but nowadays hardly anyone is remotely decent at the game. I've already quit YBA for a few months, but some of my friends still play it and they can back me up on my claims. Another thing I don't agree about is the map change. Sure, I think that the map was a lot better than the old one. The main issue is though, it is a LOT laggier than the old one. For comparison, with the fps unlocker, I could manage to get 120+ fps on the old map in a vip server. Nowadays, I can barely manage 40. This may not be as big of a problem on other platforms, but we're talking about Roblox here. Most of the people playing aren't very old and are usually playing on low end laptops and phones or tablets. I know that the developers have put efforts into making it not such a laggy mess, but it just isn't enough. I agree with everything else though, and it's sad to see that the only aspects that made YBA stand above other games (mainly the combat) have just been ruined with 50% hp combos. It was rare to see a skin back then, and now it's become the norm. How good the balancing is right now is still quite similar to what it was back then (horrible of course), but I would argue it still feels worse right now. The combat used to be void of massive combos, which is what made it stand out in the first place, but now the new reworks are just riddled with huge true combos. I feel like it's just sad to see the original main attraction of the game being completely destroyed.

Having started at around the same date, the feeling of the game is definitely a lot different. That sort of jank was a real charming part of the game and despite the overall balance still being terrible even then, it almost felt more excusable in some ways. The game isn't unplayable for me or anything now -- I can still enjoy playing with some of the new stuff, but there's just a much different feeling in my gut when I hear a stand or rework is released today as compared to all that time ago. It felt a lot more, I donno, special for sure.

The time I started playing YBA (keep in mind I've stopped playing now) was I believe nearly right next to initial release. I wasn't the FIRST to play it in any regard, but I do remember being there before SBR, Requiems, or Prestiges were even added. Rokakakas actually used to reset your level and you'd need to find a pure rokakaka which only reset your stand if you wanted to keep it. I watched YBA turn from a cool passion project that was original and enjoyable despite it's lackluster (at least, compared to the modern day) stands because, well, it was a passion project based on one of my favorite things to a corporate hellhole where all Uzu and the dev team seem to care about is money. The more popular YBA got, the more greedy the devs became until everything just... sucked. We have a game today that is devoid of all substance; what made it fun is long gone. No more new mechanics, no more new gamemodes, hell, we haven't even gotten a requiem past SPTW and Uzu promised that EVERY stand would have a requiem. I'm not saying old and simple is always good, but I think I'd prefer if all stands dropped their *visual* quality in favor of a backtrack to the fun and nostalgic feeling as well as FINALLY a decent update schedule. Also, why the hell does the storyline give you a requiem arrow?! What??? I remember working my butt off every single day in SBR and FINALLY after LITERAL DAYS beating SBR ONCE. In the past, SBR used to give you access to the requiem arrow; it was this whole quest thing with a lengthy but really rewarding process. You'd talk to the prestige master at prestige 3 in SBR, he'd give you a quest to simply beat SBR, you do so, and you get the ability to craft a requiem arrow at a different NPC for a hefty sum of money. I PREFERRED THAT SO MUCH. That last SBR game that gave me access to requiem was INSANE. Like seriously! The only requiem that was out was Gold Experience's (which at the time looked AWESOME compared to all the other stands) so I had Gold Experience and I would try for I think a whole MONTH to beat SBR. And that feeling when I got requiem was so amazing, it felt like I was a cut above the rest for all the hellish work I put in, that I actually accomplished something of worth. Aaaaaand of course they decide to make the end of the storyline give you requiem. What once was a super rewarding experience after beating SBR is now replaced with +1 pelvis and no other rewards except maybe money (I got Tusk Act 4 by literally inputting a code...) So yeah, sorry for ranting but basically what I mean is, YBA has lost all of it's original charm for me. It used to be a fun passion project, and now I can't really find any reason to play it anymore. It's a broken mess of terrible balancing and none of my friends want anything to do with it (hey, I see why). YBA just doesn't even feel like the same game anymore. And yes, drawing in children for hours on end just for them to get a slight remodel of a stand that they apparently really want IS scummy and it always has been. I've really always hated the idea of skins for that reason but obviously I won't rag on others for having them, in the end you're not FORCED to get skins since it's your choice if you want to grind for them. In summary, a lot of aspects may have improved a LOT, but it's never worth losing all of the original charm. I miss and will always miss the old YBA.

I think the main reason playing yba feels different than it used to is not just because of the game changes anymore. I believe we all have changed a fair bit since the time we started playing yba and maybe grown out of it. It is not that easy for a game built in a kid's platform to sustain the charm it had for players that have since grown older anyway. I used to play YBA with some of my online friends almost every day for roughly 2-3 years and the final moments of this video hit me quite hard. Old YBA was definitely a product of it's time but definitely carried a unique sense of fun that not many games (or itself) has quite achieved to this day. There was a certain charm that the old YBA had that the new version just simply cannot match anymore. I stopped playing YBA about a year ago and still to this day have no interest in returning to it so it's a shame to see such cherished memories with my friends almost fade into obscurity overtime and watch this game almost crumble into dust especially in the balance department. I remember watching a lot of your old YBA videos too, and would share them with said friends to gather their opinions on the stand you were reviewing. It was honestly some of the most fun I've had on Roblox and online as a whole. Shame too, because I only speak to one of them now as opposed to the five that there were. Thanks for bringing awareness to us older players to the many issues this game continues to face and a reminder to always cherish things before they're gone.

I just got off of playing YBA after not playing the game for a year, I’ve been playing this game from almost the games first release and it is crazy how much has changed for more over the worse in my opinion. There’s a lot of great quality of life and other things but just the game itself has changed so much, YBA used to be the Jojo game people played because it was different, it wasn’t a skin farm sim ability spam game you had chains and bread and butters, now it’s just like any other jojo game idk if you should even engage in m1 combat unless you have one of the new specs that can do everything. The sheer amount of moves as well is so much you have the now 5 spec moves (maybe more I’m not sure) and your stand moves which is so much to even juggle on the keyboard like using vampire with a stand like killer queen is near impossible with how many keybinds you need for all the abilities. The sheer amount of those keybinds is just a symbolism for how much the game has changed it’s just so bloated with all the stands and bugs that have not been prioritized because of the new skins and the new design philosophy as there’s no way they can not be knowing what they’re doing when they make some of these stands and specs. The game has just now been bloated with all the effects and the lack of drive to make the game good and it’s sad to see it become this.

long time viewer here. I think the a big reason YBA feels so different is because of the new reworks, small gameplay changes, UI changes and model reworks. a great example would be comparing old boxing to new boxing, sure both are op as hell, but old boxing felt less annoying and while it was more op in comparison to the other specs than the new boxing, it was a lot more fun to play against because there were less one shot combos. Stand and specs are a lot more overpowered now than they were before, and the models changing makes a bigger difference than you think. Another point I'd like to make is that a lot of the gameplay in YBA right now is just trading, and that was largely impacted by the fact there was often codes to give lucky arrows and the fact they kept adding new skins. I generally like skins in games but in YBA it isn't done too well and it ends up doing more harm than good. Some people may like this and that's fine but this is just my opinion. In terms of the player-base there was less changes, not to say there weren't any, a prime example of something not changing much is SPTW mains, they generally are either sweats or people who aren't even max level but think they are hot stuff. They use SPTW and assume they are the best and that it is completely skill based. SPTW has been nerfed and buff but ultimately the stand is just more annoying now than before, and the players remain the same (for the most part anyways). A prime example of something changing without having any in game changes is HG. HG mains generally rely on their spec and are at least decent at the game, they use the combos with something like HG boxing to their advantage, now I will admit this has been a thing for around a year, but it peaked around 8 months ago and is still common with HG mains. I could probably think of more but I am very tired. I hope you liked what I said and I would like to clarify that not all SPTW mains are like that. It is just a majority. Yba is the game were i met my friend group. I had so much fun with them, the gang wars, the screams in vc while playing sbr. I miss all of that. I quitted after the new map was released and rejoined after the soft and wet update out of nostalgia and i was stunned by how different things had become. Back in the day it was fun to try and beat unbalanced stands but rn it's a pain thx to all of the sheer amount of effects that destroy the framerate. I can say that you are the yba youtuber that i had the most fun watching. The videos always had a friendly vibe and would make me crack up from the laughs. I remember the d4c lt sbr video. The same day that video came out i asked my friends if they wanted to try and do that. At the end of the day what i feel the need to say is ty yba for making me meet the friends who helped me grow as a person and ty eclipse for always showing your love for the game and for its community.

Not much except for that movesets have become more spamming and qol changes this is mostly about nostalgia. I miss the memories of when I avidly played yba 2020-2021 but I do not let that cloud my judgement

Yeah, I also remember the wacky but good times in YBA. Especially when using GER back then was way more fun than now imo. When scorpion barrage was a thing, counter startup being annoying but kinda funny, being able to stand on the tree, awakening turning you into a literal terminator, etc. Btw you should have included the old clip where you killed a TWOH with hermit purple. I found that clip super funny! Great video though and nostalgic :)

You're one of my favorite youtubers ever, thanks to you I discovered yba and stayed in your channel not for the game you were playing but because of your great content and personality, and I'll stay for that too Long gone is that game but I'm glad you're still here Still I'm glad there's a yba replacement in your channel and thanks to it more old-like videos like stand reviews, bingos and so on will keep been made, it's heart warming how the games you play keep changing but you don't Keep up the good content and take care

I've been watching since forever and been playing almost as long as you This video, as cringe as it is, made me kind of emotional. I started playing YBA when I was like 14 in mid-late 2020, I bonded with friends over the game, I played it just about every day, I used every stand spec combo I could think of and adored every aspect and now whenever I boot up Roblox to try it out again I find myself quitting because I have more keybinds than keys and end up just throwing things out. I loved this game, I was on the 1v1 leaderboard multiple times, I had so much fun and now I just hope that it isn't over forever. Thanks for all the memories, Eclipse, absolutely banger video.

super long time viewer here. and I feel the exact same way. I miss the way how you could get an entire server chasing you after you annoy them enough and barely escaping by the skin of your teeth. but now you just get hit once and combo'd to death in seconds. I feel like the charm of the old game was the lack of balance between stands, having to team up with my pals to bring down a good twoh user, it felt like a grand battle, which makes sense if you think about it like it is jojo. even with a week stand like beach boy or mr. pres, if you fought hard enough and played smartly you could win. and when you won it felt incredible. been watching since the kc stand review. keep up the good work eclipse.

Eclipse I completely get your pain. Mostly because I’m feeling the same way. I’ve been playing for 3 years. I think I joined in June 2020. I remember the days of sptw and twoh hamon. Even though this game was a buggy mess. I hope uzu makes a separate game that is just yba around the time of the heaven update or whenever. And do minor bug fixes. I don’t even care if I would have to buy everything again. This was all I played during Covid and it got me through a deep depression. I even my best friend through yba 2 YEARS ago and we still play together. Also block breaking knives were hell. I love your videos and I’ve been a big fan for awhile. Keep up the good work. ❤

Hey Eclipse, I kinda get how you feel when games change so much you barely recognize them. The earliest memory I even have of Yba is when I got the game recommended to me a few years ago. At the time I remember the game being really old with the story not even being finished. Now watching this video, the game has changed alot. One of these days I do plan on doing a retrospective on yba and it would probably be cool to talk to you someday.

VERY long time viewer here. I quit YBA about when you stopped as well because it just didn’t sit well, only seeing getting updates on the game from your videos. Seeing the state it is now, I’m really glad I didn’t come back. It gave me so much memories but it’s not enough to bring me back. I still love your videos though.

I used to play this game since 2020 it was so fun and was getting so much updates thank you came into the picture and everything was good and than before you know less updates more op stands that are unfair and now there is this state the game is in when once you got all the skins and everything there is only 1v1 which if you don’t use sm or wa you lose and steel ball run which is fun but than it just gets boring after getting all the stands and holy corpse it is so need of new contender that I hope Uzu can see that this is a game with lots of potential and if he really focuses on the game and puts everything into it than it will be amazing.

ive literally been here ever since yba released, I remember getting star platinum on my first arrow lol. fr tho coming from a guy who played YBA since release and a fan of yours since you had around 200 subscribers, its a shame how much the game has changed, its like a whole new game now and it no longer had its charm that it once had before. i remember dominating main game with twoh and killing people in sbr with my friends having a blast but now it just wont feel the same knowing about the newer PVP of one shotting everyone. and if you're not playing the game for that its just a grindfest for skins that wont do you any good in the long run. yba has changed, and in my opinion, for the worse. I quit YBA around 2 months before the Stone Free update, then came back to it on April of this year, and I feel like I'm a literal noob when I was clearly not. every stand that releases nowadays is always so broken and then pairing that with a spec increases the craziness by ten fold. effects cover up your whole screen, still no new gamemodes, and more. back then, yba had a terrible balancing, but it had a charm to it that many of you guys can probably agree with me on. the PVP was stupid but in a good way. i miss being one comboed by a twoh or sptw. i miss ger yoinking all my health because of scorpion and barrage. i miss the infinite speed on mih... (actually idk about that one) anyways, on a real note I truly miss yba. clearly its now out of its golden age and onto its modern era. but ill forever miss the good old days... arigato, yba.

another long time viewer here, where to start. I started yba a month or so after launch, but didn’t really continue to play and actually grind out to prestige 3 around the heaven update. This was around the time your channel had blown up and i remember watching the kc hamon review and seeing you easily take over yba YT as a whole. Besides having legitimately creative youtube ideas for such a niche genre, you were also pretty steadfast in making content you enjoyed which was again also super rare on YT as well as something as random as a jojo roblox game youtuber. I can’t even imagine how much hours i put into the game and can really empathize with your feelings of passion. Despite the absolute mountain of bs rampant throughout the game just the amount of freshness using a new stand combo from a youtube video or carrying a friend in sbr kept me satisfied. I never really engaged in the community much mostly out of a lack of knowledge on discord activity and what not but when I did I had a lot of fun. I participated in that first tournament (diamondmaster3600/mlgtricks) and placed second, which friends in yba talked abt so much at the time. it was just a really cool experience and in a way your channel has been that timelog every step of the way. As of rn i haven’t really played yba consistently since the halloween update, but i pop into your channel almost all the time just to hear your insight on topics and it reminds me of that golden period of yba. cheers

I picked up yba after aut went into its big new universe update as a replacement, thinking I'd never touch it again when aut came back, but after spending like, a year or smthn on there n finding your channel I just stuck around, met a ton of my current friends there and just enjoyed the hell out of this game. haven't touched it anymore since vampire came out, having played a few matches of twoh vamp, which I always played, just felt disgusting how much damage I could do with minimal effort. I truely do hope the devs do hear what we have to say, cuz the way this is going they're gonna be/are losing a lot of people who used to love this

It makes me sad see the game disappear how it was before but it makes me very happy I got to be there to play it and to watch these videos. Eclipse was definitely a big part of why I played this game. I just wanna say thank you Eclipse
