If the opponent plays the mainline of course he beats them because his strength lies there (with Russian gms all helping him). He played such a bad manners to disturb the opponents so he could win on the board. These days people would complain to arbiter who can verify it with the camera and take some disciplinary action towards them. In my view he is not a chess legend. Just a chess bully! Luckily we got some good World Champions who are humble (Anand, Magnus) loved by almost all the opponents. :)

Never heard of Mr. Kasparov throwing such a temper tantrum (assuming the story as recounted is true). I would have thought that high level chess would have very strict enforcement against any such extreme behavior - it sounded wild. GK had to have been picking a fight for some reason. That it also had disturbing effects on players at adjacent boards is crazy. Maybe GK was drugged. Hard to believe that no physical altercations happened right then and there.

No!! Wait a minute!! My bad!! It was the same Arbiter who allowed Kasparov to double touch a piece with no consequences.. 1994 Linares tnmnt game against Judit Polgar. It's actually on KZread as it was caught on camera. 🎥

Well, if Yasser rarely rages, and he's asked about raging, chances are this story will be retold. He can't just make up imaginary rage stories so he'd have a different story each time such question comes up, can he?

@@Kitcomedy I think I've heard Yasser mention that this incident was the most angry he's ever gotten, but I don't think he's ever mentioned that he got up and was ready to slug Garry lol
