thanks for posting. i have great memories of this place, i did a beattie apprenticeship starting 2005. i was here for 1 week a month for 2 years and i loved it. i went up about a year ago and couldn't believe the three long buildings were gone and the residential estate right next to it

Hi Mike, Thanks for your comment. I was at BTTC from 1987ish and left to go to Papua New Guinea in December 1989. Sounds like our paths may have crossed,

My Dad Derek worked at the BT training college in the 80s and 90s as a lecturer. Remember him feeding the enormous koi carp although don’t know where the pond was looking at the footage.

Hi, Thanks for your comment. As I recall the poles were not full size. I think the idea was just to get you happy sitting in the harness.

Thank you for posting such good material. What a huge waste, and what a loss. From birth to dust in my life in Beattie. WW2 huts of Howard Hall and Duncan Hall when I first went to CTS Stone. First, sell-off training. Then, shut it down. I am very grateful that I knew the many good courses at Stone. .

Thanks very much for your comments. I think it has been a very significant place to many of us. I have been using the sports centre to play squash, first as a student then as an instructor and finally, before it was closed down, as a member of the public. Nearly fourty years of my life. That's a lot of sweat!

I'm doing the talk at my local camera club (Willfield Camera Club) next week. I've actually worked at Yarnfield Park for the last 15 years and have some photographs of the old accommodation block before the housing estate got built.

@@nathanslinn Hello Nate, I hope the talk goes well. Any chance that you might share the accommodation block images? I would like to do a Then and Now sequence of shots and append to my video. Incidentally, I can remember, about 30 years ago, watching a general release film which had a short clip filmed under the covered walkways leading up to a block entrance. I can’t remember it’s name but I think it was a London based gangster film. The clip must have been all of 5 seconds long! There are some very interesting photos of BT Technical Training College on the link below if you haven’t already looked. www.search.staffspasttrack.org.uk/search.aspx?&PageIndex=1&SearchType=2&ThemeID=276#searcharea Regards Chris
