The silk they have in "A Touch of Silk" looks to be silk noil, those tweedy bits in the yarn give it away. Silk noil is the shorter fiber that is left over from making silk fabric so it doesn't have the soft and shiny quality like the pulled silk you normally think of. It has a bumpy texture and feels a bit more like cotton in texture. Landscape breeze is so gorgeous, thanks for sharing these!

@@TLYarnCrafts That silk noil is probably where the smell comes from. I have several skeins of 100% silk noil yarn, and they all have that strange smell.

I made a 100% silk noil dress once. It was wearable, luxurious, unique material and lasted for yrs and yrs. It didn't feel anything like you expect "silk ", that is not slippery or drapey. I guess it is just enough silk noil to add the.nubs to texture the yarn. Thanks for the reviews. Love to listen to you.

Walked into Joann’s and found landscapes breeze and immediately fell in love with it. I made my sister a pretty long scarf with only 4-5 little skeins in Willow and I made a small dog sweater in a different color. The color transitions are amazing! I’m just sad that it’s all sold out online. Can’t wait until they restock. :)

Wow, as a hand spinner I am very impressed with your critique of the average/ or above average retail yarn. I've just rolled a one pound ball of yarn mixed with scrapes of everything. Merino, Jacob, finland, hand dyed, hand spun, art yarn , nylon, mohair acrilic. Every random yarn you could think of in a cornucopia of textures and colors. The end results are one of a kind artistry. Hang on to all of it. You can never underestimate how a simple yarn can make a project pop. All of us fiber artists are amazing creators. Your information is so real. It doesn't shame anything just reads the medium for how it hooked. Love it.

The scrubby yarn surprised me, to be honest. I've never seen a skein of this type of yarn before, ever! And that it was soft on your skin REALLY surprised me. Am dumbfounded why Lionbrand would develop a singular, niche yarn like this only for a limited time frame. It seems to me if it is successful, they should continue to make it since it is the one yarn no one else ever makes. That Landscapes yarn reminds me of a yarn you used about 18 months ago in another review, but I think that one was a cotton yarn. Thank you once again for being such an amazing presenter. I adore your channel!

I happened to find several skeins of the scrubby yarn in the bargain bin at my local JoAnne's- and I have ZERO complaints about it. I'm generally extremely bad with crochet- for years I couldn't even maintain tension, or keep track of stiches, always fighting the yarn (and what do you know, it's always been the cheapest of worsted weight acrylic). But the scrubby yarn? Love it. A little hard to manage the first few stiches, but that's understandable, and after that it's dead simple. So much so I've made a few scrubbies from it, and usually have at least one for use in the shower. It really is fairly soft on the skin while working it up as well

    * * * From this first video of yours that I've seen, you are NOT a yarn snob, you are a intelligent fiber artist with a deep knowledge of all aspects or your craft. You are personable and can express your opinions and the reasons for them clearly and well. I have subscribed based on this one video which I have never done before, and am looking forward to diving into the playlists. * * * Also, I LOVE the way you class the yarns correctly by saying "Category 4, worsted weight" yarn instead of a definitive and misleading "Size 4, medium" as other poorly educated, less savvy KZreadrs do. It just came to me to comment on some of the other crochet channels, "Please visit TL Yarn Crafts and educate yourself." (But that would be bitchy and I never would!) 😇

You mentioned Mary Maxium, I used to drive to Port Huron rather frequently to buy yarn there, it was about a 5 hour drive round trip. It's been years since I've kntted or crocheted anything. I think I'm ready to get back in to it. I was mesmerized watching you crochet forwards and backwards. I've never seen that before. Anyway, I have a few quilts to finish and maybe I'll take a trip to Port Huron for some yarn shopping.

Thanks for this! I just picked up the Stitch Soak Scrub because of this video. I worked it up in a grit stitch, with a fingering weight cotton to make shower exfoliating cloth and I love it!

Toni, I decided to learn Tunisian crochet and came across your channel. YOU TOTALLY ROCK! Every time I watch your videos I feel like I have a friend in the room with me. When I watched you test the crochet hooks I was laughing out loud. Thank you for being so natural. It’s rare. I’ve added you to the list of “people I’d like to meet”. Lol

I really appreciate your reviews for these yarns. I saw them and not sure if I should get some or not. Now I know. Not to mention I really appreciate the tips about when to use the metal or wood hooks. I really thought it was a preference. I didn't realize it could effect my gage. Thank you so much. 😊
