Yard Drainage problem solved with Dry Wells, Catch Basins and Yard Grading - East Brunswick, NJ.

Ойын-сауық

This nice family has a wet backyard. This is a beautiful neighborhood, but they have very poorly drained clay soil. Some of their water problem is coming from a neighbor, but most of their water problem is coming from a condensation line. The constant dripping of the condensation line causes the ground to be saturated so any additional water from rain or irrigation just sits on the surface. It's also a shady area of the yard so there's little help from the sun to dry this up. We use catch basins to capture and filter the water. We install a chambered drywell to give the water a place to go underground where it can percolate underground into the soil. Also called a groundwater recharge system, seepage pit, soak away, leach pit. We then use the excavated soil to regrade and direct the water into our system. I hope you enjoy our video and thank you for watching

    Thank you SummerNites. We will be able to do a follow up of this job in the spring. We completed this project in November when it was too cold for the grass to come in. We will reseed it an do a follow up once the grass comes in. This is a dry well though. All we can show is a lawn with no standing water or mud. I can't show a pipe with water coming out like some channels do. All the rain water goes underground. I do appreciate your feedback. Have a great evening, Tom

    @tyelandscapinganddrainage 😂😂😂 so true, there is no pipe releasing water 🤦🏾‍♀️ ok, maybe just a non flooded lawn will have to do. Great work, though 🇬🇧

    Great job that yard was really wet. You all did an amazing job and now the homeowner will be able to enjoy a dry backyard. I installed pop up’s and learned really quick.. if to don’t get them low enough the mower will take them out. 😂 😂. Have a great week

    Loving that advantageous loading height up on the trailer while loading into the Muck Truck and you don't even have to unhook the trailer! The bucket is nicely sized to match too! Great setup! I also noticed that you're not pulling the truck against the parking pawl in the transmission because the trailer you're on is coupled to the truck. AND you're running a smooth cutting edge so it doesn't tear up the bed.

    One thing that Shawn from the Gate City Foundation & Drainage channel does, that I haven't seen on your channel yet, is that he sometimes films initial visits and evaluations. And he records and includes a segment at the end, of how the system is working when it is raining. It would take longer to release videos but it's very compelling when you can see the before and after, in the same video where you share how you mitigate the issue. Sometimes he gets the homeowner to record a clip and includes it that way.

    Hi. The cale you found is most likely a irrigation control cable. Possible that the sprinklers are running way to long and to often. Possible that they have to many sprinklers in the yard

    In this scenario, the downspout catch basin AND the downspout line to that basin will become a trap, which will limit kinetic water flow. For catch basins to work properly, the incoming line must be higher than the outgoing line. A short baffle on the outgoing line provides an additional layer of protection from debris leaving the basin. Nevertheless, for the sake of your customer, I hope your method stands the test of time. Cheers.

    Thank you for your insights Dave. That is exactly why I put the catch basin in this spot and in this way. It interrupts the flow and catches debris before it goes into our chamber system. Like I told you in your last comment - I do this all the time and I've never had an issue. We will be doing a follow up video on this system late spring.

    If u put a catch basin in the lowest part of the grade to catch the surface water. How come muddy water doesn’t go into the catch basin and eventually clog it and eventually clog the dry well chamber system??

  • @tyelandscapinganddrainage

    @tyelandscapinganddrainage

    5 ай бұрын

    I agree that a little muddy water may go into the dry well in the beginning. Once the lawn comes in the runoff would no longer be muddy. We have to put the catch basin in the lowest spot to solve the customer's problem and the purpose of the basin is to filter the debris before it goes into the system. The debris falls to the bottom of the basin and can be cleaned out. Thank and have a great day, Tom

    Dan, 12 inch basins fit the yard better and it’s the size of the discharge pipe that determines how fast they empty. 12 or 20 with a 4 inch discharge pipe empty at the same rate. Have a great day, Tom

    Thank you for the suggestion Alexei. We use plywood or fabric when we’re not grading, but there’s no need for that when we’re completely regrading a yard. We did use plywood out front, so that lawn wasn't damaged by running the machines back and forth. Thanks again, Tom
