Not only that but they had a very clean and unbelievably advanced way of living during their time they weren't blood thirsty people like stereotype suggests they had laws and customs that acceded many other cultures and civilizations in europe at that time.

@H. Drago Just to clarify what I meant in that old comment, by "terrifying" I meant "badass." The Aztecs had such a cool warrior culture, and it's amazing to me that their ancestors' blood runs in my veins. I'm very proud of that. I never intended for my comment to come off negatively, and I'm sorry if you had that impression.

Not the language ,the Azteca language (Nahuatl )is our second language is alive and well growing in mexico ,is now being taught in our public schools, plus there is over 60-indigenous people with their own language living in Mexico. Mayan is also spoken in the state of Yucatan. I speak nahuatl it a very creative and poetical romantic language. Also our culture is in tact and well known through out the world music, food, dance artist, and poetry , also our first Mexican president was Indigenous by the name of Don Benito Juarez .

Wait, wait, wait a minute!!! Did you just said that Benito Juárez was our first president? Where the hell did you get that info?? Our first president was Guadalupe Victoria who became president in 1824, waaaay before Juárez who became president until 1850's. I'm very happy and proud that you come here to this international platform and speak about the beauty of the náhuatl language which Is far from being extinct but please don't alter the history facts just because of reasons. And yes, Juárez was indigenous but that doesn't mean he was the better of all of them. He was into masonery and did some questionable things if we talk about the interests of mexican people. Peace and let's all agree in a country where tradition, history facts and science can exist together.

the fire represents 1 of the 4 sacred elements. it gives life, warmth, light, cooks our food. It is symbolic of the self sacrifice due to ancient stories where the great spirits aspects of the universe sacrificing themselves during different ages/cycles by becoming the sun and being consumed by the fire so that humanity could live. The fire is in remembrance of this as well as the importance of "self" sacrifice for others. It also shows their discipline and concentration to not flinch.

I find it funny how people can hate on another culture. Whether or not someone likes to admit it or not, there are SO MANY similarities to almost every culture. For example: dance! To go into further detail, the Native Americans, Irish, Spanish, and Africans have similar cultural dances that involve a lot of motion with the legs. Flamenco, River Dancing, and just about every Native and African dance use a lot of strength in the legs with the pounding and twisting of the legs and all that. It's truly beautiful how we come from different corners of the world but seem to be one, without really knowing it, but have our own unique style and fashion.

aztecs were the mother tribe of native american tribes, they broke off and started forming seperate tribes and spread to north America. . but hispanic people are mixed with European., indian , and arab blood. Aztecs lived thousands of years ago.. doesn't mean every hispanic is Aztec.. alot of them have different ethnic backgrounds..

Yes mostly due to the culture mix of Europeans and Arabs, which is what created spain today... Hence the spanish that thrived in Mexico. I'm actually a full blooded Mexican, which means I have Spaniard, Arab, and Aztec blood, or ancestors, if you go back hundreds of years through the timeline of my family.

Xo, the olmec went south and established the civilization that the Aztec later conquered. They had to have broke off from a mother tribe to go south to begin with though.

Being called Hispanic or Latino does not make u Hispanic or Latino. Hispania is a region in Spain and Latino means that the language you speak is based of Latin which would make English speakers llatin as well. Let's not talk about mixture because there are many people that are mixed and still choose to call themselves what they like, yeah we might not be all aztec but if someone wants to take pride in their native roots that were stolen from them let them.
