Nice job, you know your tractor! The FEL is made by Sturdiluxe, a Durham firm that specialised in sweepers but briefly also produced loaders and backhoes, I only know this as I recently acquired one of the latter, had never heard of the company and set out to educate myself, which led me to your video. I've never owned a Yanmar tractor but I've worked with their small diesel engines for many years, they're excellent and extremely reliable given proper maintenance, it looks like yours is being treated very well so it should keep grafting for you for many years.

Yeah, I looked into Sturdiluxe Loader because one of the rams was leaking, I first started my search on the front loader that comes from the factory for the US model but I quickly realised it wasn't it. So I started looking into Sturdiluxe but I found out as you said they now only make sweepers and stuff like that, but thanks for telling me that they were made in Durham I love little bits of information like this! But I am still on the hunt for a manual then I will have got manuals for everything! Yanmar 186D and Woods 750A backhoe. Anyways back to Sturdiluxe, I was doing more digging into it and it seems to me that they are the suppliers for front loaders on all UK yanmar 186d because all the ones on eBay that have a Sturdiluxe. And maybe the dealer who sold yanmar tractors back in 1980s had a deal with them. I would love love to find out the dealers for yanmar tractors back then and if you have any information I would love to find out! Many thanks Rust2rebuild

I was also doing digging and it seems like John Deere equivalent tractors were the 650 but it only had 2 cylinder engine and the 750 but that was 20hp but they are definitely from the same factory. So maybe the yanmars were sold at a John Deere dealer🤷‍♀️

@@rust2rebuild720 Deere have sold many tractors made elsewhere - Renault, Zetor, Goldoni, etc., didn't know they badged Yanmars but MF and Ford both relied on Japanese factories for their small compact offerings (Iseki and Shibaura respectively) so I'm not surprised. I will certainly get back to you with any intelligence on Sturdiluxe, I've emailed the company that inherited the brand and presumably assets, hopefully they kept the records in a dusty filing cabinet! @@richardt8239 Yeah, no big tractor company makes their own compact tractors, to my knowledge JCB-TYM Ford- shibaura Massey is a mixed bag but I think it just Iseki now John Deere up to 2006ish for solely yanmar and now it's part yanmar. Kiote-kiote Kubota-kubota Zeh-hon I think- it's for a farmer's union in Japan and just rebadged Kubotas and yanmars As you said lots of tractors are just re-badged, and I see a lot of people on eBay and buying old ford 1400 and thinking Fords a big name brand so they can get parts for them, but getting parts for that type of tractor which is just re-badged shibaura are just non existent so you either have to get donor tractor or have to machine the parts. One thing I was surprised about was how hard it is to get parts for Iseki, and it seems to me that yanmar and Kubota are the only 1980 workhorses you easily get parts for with yanmar having loads of specialists like hoye tractors and with Kubota not pulling out of the UK there are still dealers. @@richardt8239 Hi, do you have a yanmar tractor yourself? I have discovered a place in the UK that sells yanmar and other Japanese compact tractor parts (www.yanmart.co.uk) and they told me alot of history on the tractor front loaders and Cochet loaders and backhoes where the ones put on the yanmars originally. There Google photos have a photo of a 186D with a Cochet loader

Nice walk through, I am looking at one of these to purchase.

One of the main things are to make sure all the gear work 1-3 and they all work in high, low and medium. Check all oil and make sure it is not milky in transmission.
