Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis has written several influential books and has co-founded ‘DiEM25’, a pan-European progressive movement which will be competing in next year’s European parliament elections. Adults in the Room was described as ‘one of the greatest political memoirs of all time’, while Talking to My Daughter About the Economy is a lightning-quick account of how capitalism works and how it fails. In this event recorded live at the 2018 Edinburgh International Book Festival, he discusses his ideas on democracy, liberty, internationalism and radical Europeanism with Shami Chakrabarti, Labour peer and former director of Liberty.

Shami is amazing.
I just ordered his three most recent books, joined DiEM2025 even though I'm in the US, donated 20 euros to 'em, and that's about it. :)

My hope is that greed and the corruptions of the soul can be overcome by people like Yarnis and intelligent debate. We have endured some 2000 years of human excess and we still take Christ as an example of the virtues of Capitalism. A profound phenomena that destroys the very teaching principles of Christ and his disciples. As for the Bible it is not a DIY manual for self adulation and aggrandisation. It is a moral code and to be used to educate and measure our life as accorded by Christ. Wealth is an affair of your relationship with God and the richness of the soul.
