Yamaha YXZ1000R Bottom End Rebuild | YXZ1000R Engine Rebuild | Partzilla.com

In this video from Partzilla.com, we’re doing a bottom end rebuild on a YXZ1000R. This is part of a larger project where we’re installing a turbo. We’ve already installed a gear reduction kit: • Yamaha YXZ1000R Gear R...
We’ll start by assembling the pistons, and John will show you how to check your ring gaps and size the connecting rod bearings for a proper fit. The next step involves dropping in the camshaft, and again, John will guide you through how to size the bearings on your YXZ1000.
As we close the bottom end, there’s a sequence we need to follow for everything to seat properly. Then, we’ll add the oil pump and oil pan.
Next, we’ll turn our attention to the flywheel and the output flange. On the output, we’re going to replace a worn bearing before we put it all back together. We’ll wrap it up by bolting on the starter and the water pump.

In the video we’re working with a 2016 Yamaha YXZ1000R, but you may have similar steps for your Yamaha side by side. If you’re not sure whether these steps apply to your machine, leave a comment and we’ll get back to you.

I don’t work on bikes but I love watching these videos because they’re so well done and thorough. Really gives do it yourselfers a real chance at actually being able to do it themselves and get it done properly. Well done as usual!
First to attend this diploma in motorcycle engineering video! 🐱👍🏿
Si gkad ti see John still making videos Best guy out there!
LOVE this content!
Great video! Only thing I saw that could be improved was use fuel tubing on BOTH rod bolts at all times until they are all buttoned up. This eliminates risk of contact with crank bearing surfaces.
good video
Excellent video When will the top end rebuild be posted?
😊❤
Great video. Anyone know who makes that engine stand or where to get it?
any tips on how i could press my wheel bearings in without a shop press?
At approximately 28:15 you mention the ft lbs for the bolts but then 1 through 4 go 95 to 100 degrees and 5 through 8 go 75 to 80 degrees. What do you mean by 95 to 100 degrees and 75 to 80 degrees?

After being torqued to the specification, you put a wrench or ratchet on the bolt and tighten it again- when you tighten it, one full turn is 360 degrees, so in this case, the manufacturer calls for about a quarter turn
They may be helpful videos but PartsZilla use Mail innovations to ship and its been well known for yrs now how bad that shipping service is yet they continue to use it. Plus they say they do not deliver to post offices yet that is exactly how MI works, UPS gets the original package then it transfers it to the us mail. If you like waiting weeks for something thats 4 states away then Partszilla is for you.
