    Hi from Canada. I was just in Singapore this last winter, and being in Asia has made me fall in love with scooters again. I'm trying to find an Xmax in Canada, but they are extremely rare, as we are more of a big motorcycle country. Anyhow, thanks for the review. Knowing your comfortable cruising speed confirmed for me that the 300 will be fine for my riding, as speeds rarely go over 120kph in Canada (unlike Malaysia:). Bye for now!

    Yess!! Its true fuel consumption is better on scooter oil for scooters. what ppl dont know is that scooter oil has lesser frictional modifier as these frictional modifier is optimises for wet clutch so that they can grip despite being soaked in oil! Since scooters dont have have wet clutch, they add more lubricating modifiers in scooter oil to optimise the lubrication of engine parts hence more efficient! . I personally recommend Gulf Scooter oil or Motul Scooter Power oil grade 5w40 in my aerox :) ( manufacturer recommends 10w40, but however 5w40 gives me the best range and fuel consumption!! Cheers man!❤

    The new maxsym400 really lost its touch, it became slimmer and slimmer. Looks like the latest Burgsman400, which has stealthy looks and more street riding style. Agree with you for CB400X to have that extra panniers at the side would really help on the storage. Nevertheless, really loves both these bikes till now. 😁 Anyway, Maxsym400 i tried fitting in Heidenau tyres, it was superb for my daily rides and long distances ride.. Riding up Genting, Cameron, Frasers and Grik were smooth and the gripping strength really sleek. You may want to try it out on your XMaX. 😁

    Also my wife have difficulty getting to the pillion seat in my Honda CB400X due to her weak and damaged knee. So I wondering if you can advice if mounting a scooter would be easier for my wife and also if possible do a video on how to get to the pillion seat if you unable to mount using the peg. My wife says her auntie mount her uncle scooter by seating on the front seat and then move to the back seat. If possible can also do a video demo. Sorry I ask so many questions.

    Xmax isn’t easy for pillion to mount too to be honest. If you don’t mind downgrading to smaller CC scooter. I suggest you look at Nmax or the Honda Pcx as it is shorter than both Xmax and Adv160.

    Great video. Have enjoyed your other videos on the road trip to Thailand with your missus. I have question a thing that I have never been able to overcome :- how do you manage the wind sound when riding? I use 3M earplugs to reduce the sound. But I feel it all depends on the helmet. I ended up spending on a few helmets but was never really able to over come the wind sound to my comfort level. I would appreciate your views/ experience on this. Thnx.

  • @FizoTravel

    @FizoTravel

    Hi bro thanks for watching. Regarding the wind noise, I guess it depending on what bike you are riding. For my case with scooters, a tall windshield does help alot as i deflected the wind above my head/helmet. I think if your bike come with those short windshield or naked. Through my experience when riding naked motorcycle last time, a good modular/full face helmet definitely improved the sound proofing and wind noise. So what bike are you riding and which helmet are you wearing?

Also the CB400X very heavy and after changing the triangle plate to make bike lower, it centre of gravity changes and now very difficult to pull to full stand. Should I get the Honda ADV160 or 250 or even this Yamaha Xmax 300.

    Engine oils... I never bothered with scooter oil. I just went and bought a large bottle of off brand car oil from a reputable shop. Big name brands in MY carries a higher risk of fake oils or worst recycled oil. Fake means they refilled the bottle in a warehouse with some other engine oil that they bought in bulk. Since covid, I had a barrel of diesel engine oil sitting around. I've used it since, so far so good. The manufacturer datasheet shows its SN rated so it's good for petrol also. FC I never bothered since fuel is a very affordably priced in MY, empty just go refill la. The rear can take a 150 tire with no mods if you're interested but might take a hit on your FC. So far white line dancing doesn't occur on pirelli angel. I'd take that over other issues as I don't enjoy butt clenching anytime there's road paint. If you demand more rear stability, you should change to yss or racing boy shocks. Lots of fake ohlins recently. Yamaha definitely cheap out on the shocks and brakes. By the way, not sure if it's legal or not. You could cover the brake fluid sight glass, there's little use for it. You don't need to check the level or dirt. If it's leaking you'd seen it, if the worst case like its totally dry. The front and rear are not linked. Brake system don't just spontaneously leak everything in a few hours, if suddenly all the fluid is gone. It sounds more like someone sabotage. After a year or two in the sun, the glass will crack. Might as well just use some aluminum foil tape to cover it up. Change the fluid every 2nd brake pad change and oil level is just right at the low mark once the pads are worn out. Lastly you've got a very patient missus ah. I'd wonder how much it cost you afterwards.

  • @FizoTravel

    @FizoTravel

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Mr Mike, thanks for all the suggestions…i agree Yamaha cheap out in quite a few numbers components here, especially brake and suspension. Rcb and Yss is good enough to change to in my opinion if i changing to aftermarket. Regarding the car and and diesel oil, i used to think that it’s ok to go for car or diesel engine oil as car and scooter are similar with separate transmission and gear oil, But i then learned that there are difference in scooter oil and car oil, scooter oil are made for scooter high rpm as scooter rev higher, while car tend to stay in lower rpm 2-4krpm. That is why car/diesel oil is cheaper than scooter oil. But i think if car oil work for you it’s should be fine. Maybe just don’t push the oil change interval for too long as the car oil may quickly break apart in scooter revy engine. Haha regarding my missus, she does enjoy he alone time too whenever i did something like this. And a good dinner after something like this will makes her happy😀 Thanks for sharing input Mike. Cheers.

    @Fizo Travel I changed at standard 3k km. My sym almost 100k already, no premature wear issue. Kymco same same at 3k intervals. I've had a bad experience with gear oil though. Many years ago they only stock one type of gear oil without viscosity index (conveniently labeled scooter gear oil) and turns out its the wrong viscosity for my sym. Manual states it needed 140 hypoid oil. No prizes for guessing why the gear bearings blew up after 40k. And along with the whole set of 3 gears. Bought proper 140EP gear oil from ace hardware, happily ever after. The oil is thick like cold honey. No more iron filings when I drain the oil. My kymco manual states 80 oil. Since I have a big barrel of it as well, I just change every 3k. Cvt service? 😄 I open the cvt cover every 3k, point a garden hose and scrub down everything with a toothbrush. Actual service only when I change the belt.

  • @FizoTravel

    @FizoTravel

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes Sym amd Kymco uses 140 gear oil I’m aware of that unlike other Japanese scooters which uses 90 gear oil. I’m glad i went through the manual when i first bought my Sym scooter. I agree i think 3k km is a sweet spot for oil change. Me too change oil at 3k. I like to diy oil change because some mechanics can mess up a simple oil change such as overfilling oil and etc. I wish i know how to diy cvt servicing. However i still send to workshop for cvt servicing/cleaning at 6-7k km. You seem to really take care of your scooters which is good. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
