Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I tidy up a few things on the engine, do a few checks and then start it up for the first time.

    There's just something magic about the first start up on a build, hearing that first "Pop", then "Roar" ! ! It never gets old.

    I fired up one of there just the other day, had the cylinder head off because all eight valves were bent, held a lead rod to them and swung a hammer on them till they sealed up close... after that I put the head back on, used the old head gasket and torqued it down to 34lbft. had 34 65 80 and 20 psi of compression... so I filled the tank with kerosene, sprayed lots of fuel in the carbs and hit the starter. It fired up and i let it rev as far as it would go for 50 seconds and then slowly started letting off over about 200 seconds then shut it off and let it cool... took much less kerosene oil mix to start the second time, actually switched to a 80/20 gasoline kerosene mix and ran it at 3000 to 6000 rpm for 15 minuets... the next day I ran it at 35mph in first gear for 15 miles... 7000rpm to 9500rpm. The lower jug gasket was replaced with lock tight 515 flange sealant so the compression ratio is 10.5-1, still runs on the kerosene mix gas but the compression detonation makes it tricky to run it to higher rpm's cant just open the throttle... 28-60 octane fuel, the ratio it has states it needs 91 or 97 octane gasoline. The valve cover gasket melted during the brake in! Runs much smoother then a 250cc dirt bike.

    What size tires are you running? They look bigger than stock. Also, I want to lower my XJ 750(Midnight Maxim) but they have the adjustable forks. How can I lower them? Or should I get different ones?

  • @Mezzmoengineering

    @Mezzmoengineering

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi, I don't know your set up but the front forks can be lowered easily by loosening the clamps and simply lowering. Rear shockers usually have some adjustment but if you want more you will need different shockers with the height you want

    Yea I know I can slide them on the triple tree but sometimes it makes the ride a little sketchy when doing that. I may look for some old KZ forks to lower and swap. Both are 36mm so it should be ok

    Just got a xj 750 83 model. Having alot of bsck firing through the carbs. When im atarting it itll backfire bad. Is that the carbs out of synch or a timing issue? Ive had it running before but wont idle. Only runs at 1/4 to 1/2 theottle

  • @Mezzmoengineering

    @Mezzmoengineering

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi mate, hard to say. If it was running well before then most likely carby issue. If you have changed something on the engine then that could be part of the problem too. My guess is you need to remove carbies and give them a good clean, check for air leaks, throttle shaft seals, intake boots etc

  • @Aciecarter238

    @Aciecarter238

    @Mezzmo Engineering the bike hasn't run in 11 years. Doing it for someone else. An the starter clutch is bad so whole motor has to come apart. Also got a 78 xs 750 yamaha that needs starter clutch. The 3 cylinder 750. Both need starter clutches. It got a little better when I adjusted the float level so my guess to much fuel from wrong float level

    @@Aciecarter238 Hi mate, if it hasn't run for that long then for sure the carbies will need a thorough clean. That's the best starting point.

    Hey could you help me out! My Yamaha xj650 maxim is having problems I took the headers off to see how much pressure was coming out and cylinders 1 and 2 and pushing hard but 3 and 4 aren’t pushing as hard. It’s almost week. The bike is a project and I’ve gotten it to the point where after a few fires it’ll start up if I put my hand on the back of the carb. The carbs are dog shit but I can’t even roll the throttle there’s no response at all and it takes a few turns to start it up. Is it happening because of the carbs??

  • @Mezzmoengineering

    @Mezzmoengineering

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'll guess the issue it carby related. Other basic things to do is check your plugs, timing and test compression
