    These bikes top out at 105 mph with 190 lb Rider on it. It will do the highway all day. At 75 mi an hour you still have throttle left. I love mine but I've got it turned into a rat rod bobber. I'm 6 ft 2 and I love it. Mine is an 87 so I took that air filter cover off and put a sportster tank in it's place with a set of flat drag bars.

    @@chasie5928 She must be tired . I didn't do any engine mods to mine. Gutted the baffles from the stock exhaust however. The sportster tank I'm using I got off of eBay as an empty tin, made cutting the shape I needed to mount it on the front of the frame quite easy.

    I drive daily a Virago 535 (year 1997) since 2014, with the original handlebar and just the same seat as yours. I just LOVE it. :-) I made twice 950 Km/590miles a couple of months ago, it was just fine and easy. Tanking fuel every +-140Km/90miles, driving at 110, 120, 130kmh/80mph ... but I do prefer 115kmh/70mph. Thanks for the vid! (fyi, I'm 5′ 11", but it fits perfect with the bike)

    Do you think a 6' 3" could drive this bike comfortably for long rides? I'm really thinking about getting one but the size concerns me.

  • @NicoDekmine

    @@arnoldo9319 to be complete, I must say I have additional foot pegs (next to the engine safety bar) so I can extend my legs to 20 inches more. And my handlebar is 2 inches upper than usual (to avoid shoulder aches on long rides). Without it I felt quite "folded". 6' 3" is about 5" more than I am... maybe it's not gonna be that comfy, I can't really say. :-) What I could say is: maybe check the 750cc, same model and age but one level bigger. A taller friend has one, and seems really happy. Or the Suzuki Intruder (before 1995 only), great look too, but that is another story. I still drive my 535 daily, winter or summer, 75mph on speedways, max 95 mph on track. It's drinking moreless 8,5 L for 100 miles on highway, and 10,5 L for 100 miles in the city trafic.

    do you reach the ground with your feet if a person is 5f 6inches? how hard is the clutch lever?

  • @NicoDekmine

    @NicoDekmine

    5 жыл бұрын

    This bike was originally made by Yamaha in the 1980's to answer the need of a custom motorbike with better proportions for the ladies (the name comes from the Latin word virago (viraginis) meaning a vigorous and strong woman, a female warrior). So, the answer is yes to reach the ground, no doubt. But mind the 410 lbs: not easy to lift it up if the bike falls. The clutch lever seems smooth to me, easy ... except when my hands are frozen by the winter rain... means if it feels too hard = I'd better stop to get my hands warm again. :-) But it's a very comfy and easy to drive bike, imho. Cheap to manage and to keep in good shape.

    On his own Virago I don't see it, so I cannot answer for him. But on all Virago's I saw (in Europe) the lights control (Off / Low / On) is in the right block, just between the red "engine on" and the starter button (where he has the tank controls). On mine as well (1997 model) and the tank control is a smaller black switch (Res. / On) under the starter.
