Worth noting that the suspension was upgraded and TCS modes added in 2017 and a GT version added in 2018. Would have been interesting to see a comparison between both GT or both non GT models. I have a 2017 Tracer 900 and am very happy with it. I have a sport screen on mine...it is much better!

It's great that Patrick is getting such a thorough introduction to bikes (& presenting, for that matter) so early in his life. I would have been thrilled at his age to have the same.

I have a 2017 tracer 900. Just come back for a tour in Wales. I set my suspension to suit being 2 up with panniers and topbox. It handles like a dream and was really surprised. Set my fork preload to 4 lines from the top. 6 clucks from max and rear was on 1step from max. Damping was 4 from max. The bike was very balanced over bumps and corners. Mine has 3 rider modes and 3 traction settings (off.1and2) good reviews keep up the good work. Ride safe.

I own a 2017 Tracer 900, and agree that when you compare this year (or later) with the 2021 onwards model, there feels like less of a difference on the road. I rode the 2023 GT+ a few months ago, with a view to upgrading. But I didn't feel that the newer bike was £10k better than mine. I also struggle with the front end appearance of the newer bike too. A great comparison though, and nice to see somebody doing something a bit different. Thank you.👍

100% agree with you on price difference. In my case I choose 2019 GT. One reason was the price, secondly general look of it and TFT display.

"let's get them out on the road", was half expecting the wee man to pull up beside you on the other bike :P. Not far off that happening haha.

Thanks Mark, another very good video. I've got a '71 plate Tracer. It's my go to machine these days for most journeys. Lots of protection in the rain, toured 1,000 miles plus, twice on it this year already and I have the choice of this a V7 and a California! The Tracer really is a joy to ride, stable, comfy, light, economical (easy 50mpg+), reliable and has cat like agility even 2 up and with all it's luggage. For me the 9GT is the perfect road 'do-all' bike. Seeing these at sub £8k now so a bargain as well! I always look at the bikes you recommend (Benellis, CF Motos etc) but just can't see past this at the moment...

Sometimes that bike comes along that you just can't see beyond.

Weird ypy like the twin clock set up as many really don't,yes the screen on 2015 did look very flimsy compared to the newer model, biggest difference is obviously the suspension is totally different,my 2018 I did consider upgrading the forks and shock, but took It to Richmond racing he set it up so now it's a different bike he only changed settings but worth every penny transformed the bike.

Test rode a brand new tracer 900gt the other day. Yes its made some improvements in areas but got back on my 2018 GT and felt so much happier with it, looks better too IMO...not worth spending another 6k...gonna keep my 2018 GT 👌

I had the 2015 Tracer and let me tell you the bike may have been capable of 145 mph but you would have had to get past a massive tank slapper from about 115 to 125 mph, so never got near 145mph. I don't know if yamaha cured this problem with later models though?

I think they cured it on the 21 model and maybe on the 17 revamp

Can't comment as not rode the 2023 but my 2018 does deffo have character for a modern bike, even so if 2023 is better I don't like that clock set up but I believe later model is changed,I found the brakes superb but I've got galfer discs but stock pads, still that CP3 engine what a motor.

If only Yammi did one £2k cheaper. Without all the nonsense "hi tech", often to break down bollox nonsense? I and thousands more neither need nor want. I'm not prepared to pay for all this nonsense kit. I would replace my owned from new, 120,000 faultless miles aboard, 2006 FJR1300 if not for the crazy price!

So as usual on almost all bikes... Mirrors.that are crap, screens that are useless, no.proper mudguards, zero storage, 19rh century filthy, high maintenance chain drive, but lots of unneeded "tech"? And still this nonsense sells?😮
