Yamaha Tenere 700 on a stunning mountain road [RAW Onboard] What's the T7 like with a passenger?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Listen to the stock Yamaha Tenere 700 sound! We're riding the famous mountain road called Qafa e Thorës in Albania that leads to Theth village. I'm riding with my girlfriend as passenger and near the end I'll talk about how the Yamaha Tenere 700 feels when riding with a pillion and a lot of luggage.

Something I've noticed as I get older, is it's not about peak power figures, it's about how that power is spread out through the rpm. Bikes like this may only have 70ish hp, but with a nice mid-low range punch it doesn't matter. I love my tuned MT10 with 160hp, but without breaking the law I'm only utilizing like 70hp most of the time anyway

I think for most people torque is the most important thing. It's also the reason why Harley Davidson sells any bikes at all. :)

@@ronr6605 I mean that for all their faults, HD air cooled motors are torque rich, and that's why they have some appeal still. I went down the supersport/sportbike route too (VFR, s1000rr, tuono v4) and I still have the most fun on a torque KTM 990 v2. Butt dyno is a real thing.

@@aka_pierre got it. 990 superduke?! 👍 So you like them characterful gals. :)) Sadly nothing for this terrain, we got too many hairpins over here and she is known to like it hard. 😅 I like howl and torque from down-low with predictable pickup, so it's an liter-i4-naked and I got to live with the missing balancershaft. Harley tho is nothing for me, except they would put it in a naked chassis, I'm that bad of a rider that needs to feel the front atleast in the fingertips.

I think the T7 has a lack of power for two up. The T7 does the job, but I see you change to first gear in every hairpin. Solo there's no need for that. Under braking you would be more than happy with HK suspension front springs. The standard is to soft and the bike dives to much. I can only imagine what it will do two up and luggage. For the rest you are spot on. Thanks for sharing the vid.

T7’s biggest weakness is its highway ability. The engine is too weak. Most consumers need to drive at least 1-2 hours even to find gravel roads or twist like the video, meaning comfortable 1-3hours @ 80-90mph (125-140kmh) highway cruising ability is the big plus. Indeed, this is the Achilles for most of the Mid-weight, and most people eventually choose GS1250 or similar. In reality, 90%+ consumers don’t touch offroad but pick ADV bikes as an alternative to conventional touring bikes. I know there’s Tracer, but I still hope Yamaha makes T9 for 85:15 or 90:10 Onroad/Offroad bikes, competing against somewhere between Suzuki 800 and S1000gx.
