Yamaha SBG-3000 Test Drive - do they still make guitars this good?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I had a lot to say about this early 80's Yamaha SBG-3000, it was was one of THOSE guitars. Do you think the guitar industry is still producing these types of instruments? And if so, who'?

This is crazy. When I was 16 in like 2001, I bought a Yamaha SBG-3000 just like that, same finish and everything, and it even had an modded locking trem just like that. Bought it used for $400. Had no idea what kind of guitar it was, I was just a clueless kid. Took it back for a refund a couple weeks later because I didn't like how they edge felt (I was used to a Strat). Kicking myself to this day.

Nope, it was a factory upgraded model. I had to replace a volume pot that had sheared off, plus I replaced all the knobs with an after-market set. Other than that the electronics were all original.

Yes I believe you are right. I was confusing it with the SG 2000. After Gibson Sued then they changed it to say SBG instead of SG. And I think the SBG 2000 had the push pull. To make Gibson Happy I guess. They changed the name for the states but left like it was in Japan. In my humble opinion Those Yamaha guitars where far more superior then the Gibsons of that time.👊🎸

It’s like Tesla losing to Edison that we get push/pull pots ffs. Great guitar, a Japanese gas guzzler.

Yamaha in the 70's and 80's was fire. Typically heavy as hell, but still great guitars.
