HDMI 4 in/1 out, 8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz, HDR10+
Dedicated gaming function(ALLM,VRR,QMS,QFT) via FW update

MusicCast Surround capable - add MusicCast 20 or MusicCast 50 speakers to create wireless surround sound
HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D
YPAO™ sound optimisation
This is WAY better than that Denon amp you've been looking at
CINEMA DSP 3D for Movie, Music and Game
This unique Yamaha proprietary sound field creation technology, was created by combining measured sound field data with digital signal processing. Yamaha collected sound field data from famous concert halls and music clubs around the world, utilising its wealth of experience in the fields of concert hall design, public address and mixing. By digitising this vast trove of information and incorporating it into dedicated LSI devices, it effectively reproduces the spaces of concert halls and music clubs in your home. Immerse yourself in the astounding realism of your movies, and enter a world of profound theater sound.
Advantage of High Slew Rate Amplifier
It would contribute a precise signal transmission, especially suitable for high resolution audio signal. Generally high slew rate amplifier causes unstable signal transmission, Yamaha’s newly design circuit achieves high slew rate with stable signal transmission.
Compressed Music Enhancer
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.
HDR10+*
HDR10+ signals not only dynamic range (the ratio of light to dark) of video content on a scene-by-scene (or even frame-by-frame) basis, it also provides, in a small amount of metadata, the scene characteristics between bright and dark so that important detail can remain. This enables displays to reproduce images more realistically, adhering to the creator’s intent.
*This function is available via FW update.
8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz*
Supports end-to-end 8K/4K resolutions and higher refresh rate solutions with a single upgraded cable for seamless integration within the HDMI eco-system. 8K delivers a super-immersive viewing experience with 2x the horizontal and vertical resolution of 4K, and 4 times as many pixels; and combined with 60Hz refresh rate enables smooth and sharp viewing of content with high-speed action. 4K/120Hz enables ultra-fast motion UHD images to be crisp and razor sharp; allowing sports, action movies, high-performance gaming and VR to benefit significantly.
*This function is available via FW update.
Gaming-dedicated Function (ALLM,VRR,QMS,QFT)*
Enhanced gaming and media features ensure an added level of smooth and seamless motion and transitions for gaming, movies and video. They include: Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) allows enables the ideal latency setting to automatically be set allowing for smooth, lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) reduces or eliminates lag, stutter and frame tearing for more fluid and detailed gameplay. Quick Media Switching (QMS) for movies and video eliminates the delay that can result in blank frames before content is displayed. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) reduces latency for smoother no-lag gaming, and real-time interactive virtual reality.
*This function is available via FW update.

I'm enjoying my unit. It's a big upgrade from my 16 year old Sony receiver. Sound is noticeably better, and the extra HDMI ports and 3D pass through have saved me from the rat's nest of optical cables and HDMI switchers that were required with my old setup. Get one, you won't regret it.

Had a query which has been bothering me for sometime: was deciding between Denon S650h and Yamaha RX-V4A and found that power consumption of S650h was 340W and of RX-V4A was 260 and wanted to know the reason for such difference? Both AVRs are 5.1 with no dedicated passive subwoofer out to explain the power difference. Also the rated power of both are almost same; 75-80W per channel. Does it mean the Denon outputs more power per speaker or is something else the case?

  • @TLPCHC

    @TLPCHC

    2 жыл бұрын

Input power does not equate in any way to output power. I think you have highlighted that the Yamaha is more electrically efficent and it will run cooler than the Denon. You will also see that the Denon has less real world wattage than the Yamaha.

Unfortunately, I have not had a great introduction to this machine, working as a stereo receiver and with only Cable TV and a BlueRay Disc player connections are minimal. I ran the Firmware upgrade before entering set up. Worked through the set up and then expected it to work. Nup. Went to the online users manual, unfortunate document. Can't find a trouble shooting section, man, that's confidence. I am getting ready to take it back to the store as this product has a distinctly citrus tang to it. I finally got a picture and sound but not in that order. The picture lagged by minutes and often would not appear at all. Now, I can't get the Setup button to respond. 5 hours of frustration just to replace a receiver. Maybe something screwed the Firmware upgrade, I only proceeded to Setup once the screen on the receiver said that it was finished. I can take it back to the dealer tomorrow, but I know that I purchased the last one they had.

I picked this receiver up a week ago. Pleased so far except... blue tooth streaming from my phone sucks. Every time I adjust the volume from the remote, dial or phone the music skips erratically until you stop adjusting the volume. It will pause the music for a moment then pick back up. The remote swapped the volume to the with the input. If you swap the input by accident and go back to Bluetooth I have to reconnect the phone to the receiver. Other than that pretty solid for the price? But the volume adjustment problem is driving me nuts. It may get sent back to Crutchfield if I can’t find a solution.

This is an amazing sounding, rock solid, brillently built 5 channel, budget priced amplifier with streaming on board - What were you expecting for the money?

Is it a budget item because it is basic no frills as such and simply well priced because of that fact. I'm only interested in 5.1 sound but I can't find mid or high end 5.1. How does it actually sou d for movies and music sources? Thanks a mill.

No ATMOS ??? No 5.2.4, no 7.2.4?? ATMOS will keep growing forward thru the years. already obsolete for movie watching. One can even add really cheap overhead speakers, and upgrade latter.

I think you are expecting a lot for the RRP of this amplifier. It is an entry level AVR and it is 8k.

Not very clever to throw away the batteries, the cable, etc...you're gonna need them later, so you'll end up collecting them from the floor.

Me watching this is dreaming to have one like this. For me, i found it really rude may i say disturbing that you just throwing away all of those things. Not funny for me. I dont like the the way you review things. I found it so boastful. 👎

It is an entry level unit, designed to go on the shelf beside Panasonic and Phillips AVR's that claim 280w and deliver 20, so yea, this RX-V4a is under powered, but it is CHEAP too.

Bad attitude, hence thumbs down for throwing stuff, where a human labour is involved in doing the same thing. Trashing your review like you throwing stuff around.

Don’t buy this receiver. Peace of junk Just got it and it’s broken and the sound quality sucks. Chip shortage means companies are putting crappy hardware in these components. Have to return mine.if you have an older receiver hang on to it

This is an ENTRY LEVEL unit. The cheapest 8k HDMI AVR that can be built. What were you expecting? And what speakers were you asking it to drive?
