Hey nice video as usual! Please tell me how can I route signal for my monitors. I do have almost decided to buy it. Is it possible to have more inputs and outputs on that desk? I see that there is optional 4x xlr output card and it would be ok - I dont need more monitors on the stage but there is only one expansion slot so I will not be able to get more inputs. Any ideas? And what are the omni outputs? Maybe just use them with an DIbox to give monitoring for the musicians? I would be very thankfull for some suggestions!

Great video! i was looking at this mixer online to buy. but i was wondering if it would work with Reaper. and when you said Reaper in the video i was floored and my eyes got big! awesome! so how was set up in reaper! any issues at all? anything i need to worry about? thank you again for the awesome video. this might be my mixer of choice. Trying to get an audio interface and and a control surface. And this is both in one. how is automation in reaper?

The Yamaha site is super confusing as to weather the O1V96 Mlan and USB drivers are current or this has been obsoleted. We can't get the O1V to talk audio or midi to any of our El Cap machines. Can anyone out there in 2016 direct us to exactly which Software is needed to shovel 16ch audio in and out of Osx10.11 pls:) YamahaSteinberg USB is not working at all. Or have we been obsoleted?

Great review! Nick, I'm switching from Korg Zero8 to something with similar workflow (and onboard 16/16 interface). I basically have a choice between Allen & Heath ZED R16 and Yamaha O1V96i. I will use it for electronic live act using both Ableton and hardware (ESX, Blofeld, etc.) at the same time. Could you please give some of your thoughts on choosing between those two? I really like ZED R16's feel but Yamaha's routing and expansion possibilities are pretty damn impressive...

CAN U HELP ME WITH ITS DRIVER?

do you know if you can patch the B inputs on to channels 17-32 giving it 32 analog inputs?

I'm looking at either the StudioLive 16.0.2 or the Mackie DL1608. I really want to do live recording while mixing live, but, I don't want a heavy mixer.

I need help in making my mixer speak withy pc. I can find it on my system but i cant get sound to the pc. I think i am nit getting sound. Can you help please?

Yeah if you are working live, the Presonus might be worth looking at, geared more for live use than the O1V96i - which I would say is more of a studio board, though you could use it for preset mixes of live inputs with snapshots per song rather than live interactive mixing.

It will not patch. It's either-or. B inputs are priority though. I don't know why. If you have a mic on the XLR input AND TRS on the B input at the same time... It will only convert the TRS signal.

I'm struggling with input of as many as 10 mono wireless mics. When I set gain high enough to sweeten the input where I just begin to like it we get feedback. This is in an unusually shaped auditorium. Would compression and gate help so I can increase gain? Ideas please and thankyou.

John Redden Sounds like a gain before feedback issue, in which case there might not be a whole lot to do. A comp would allow you to set your gain higher (assuming no out gain), but probably would still exceed the gain before feedback threshold. Check mic and speaker placement to make sure the mics are set in a way that they will reject mains/monitors the most by what pickup pattern they have. Maybe look over your system gain structure as well (plenty of videos about that). An odd shaped room can either be a great thing or a bad thing, just depends on the angles, materials, and speaker and mic positions. Other than that, try to notch out problem frequencies with either channel EQ or if they all have a common frequency, mains/monitor EQ.

I am about to buy either a Universal audio apollo quad or a yamaha 01v96i i am so undecided!

There's also the Presonus Studiolive, since you plan on taking the board on the road.

anyone owns this mixing desk? does it sound clean/cold/digital/warm/neutral? are the built in fx any good? any flaws? noise?

Neutral, nice professional grade preamps with plenty of gain and with the dat on the back add another 8in8out of any preamps you want

DAWs and digital mixers were practically intended to work together from the start of their existence. It's not just control and AD/DA conversion; like the guy said, it's symbiosis.

I use ProTools 11 in my project studio but besides Sony Vegas 13 pro Suite I also use Cockos Reaper and after having read about some alleged difficulties regarding using this board as a control surface with Reaper I have to ask you what your experience is? Frederic Martorell Yes it is, besides 1/4 line in's also 1/4 inserts however you need an insert cable or "Y"cable which is any combination of a Male 1/4 Stereo with Two XLR's In/Out (or whatever I/O contacts your external device needs)..

Hello, 01V96i allows recording only 16 channels via USB, or you can record 24 or 32 channels inputs using ADA inputs.

if you output another 8 channels through adat to an adapt recorder you can capture another 8 channels and if you have a Dante or adapt card you can have another 16

The most confusing thing about digital mixers is knowing what mode (layer) the faders are in. They could be AUX sends, FX sends, master levels or channel levels at any givin time. Always remember to go back where you were. Hit that "home" button. Unfortunately most digital mixers are alike in that way. I have a Presonus StudioLive 16 III that I prefer to live use. It has class compliant USB i/o 32x32 ch. built in. It's great for mixing a live band while simultaneously capturing all the the tracks. Sounds good too. On the used market expect to spend around $1500 for one of those. For small jobs the current Tascam mixers look a lot like a standard analog mixer. Never tried one. Some people like the "stage box" style mixers from Mackie where you have to mix on an iPad. I avoid those like the plague!! @@thomaswild2957
