We're now getting rain in my part of New Brunswick and then it's supposed to freeze and stay cold for a while. Studded tires going on the Wolverine shortly. Hoping to have enough snow in the new year to put the tracks on. Never used them last winter.

HI Cubee and CK I have been watching you guys since around I think 2011 back when you got the Grizz and Kodiak and I'm now in the market for a 4x4 ATV finally and am looking at the new 2019 Kodiak 450 without diff lock for 6,000 US do you guys feel that is worth it? Im mainly looking for something for trails and to snow plow with. I was going to go with the 2019 Can-Am Outlander 570 for 6,700 US but im worried about reliability issues. But the Vtwin and the visco-loc are kinda appealing. I really value your guys opinion and look forward to hearing back from you thank you!

Thanks for being such a loyal viewer! Personally we wouldn't buy an ATV without diff lock but we do get into some nasty places sometimes and it makes all the difference in getting 'unstuck' sometimes. We have been very happy with out Kodiak 450 and our Can Am (not sure how the 570 would be). The visco lock is great...no 'button' to push ..just engages when you need it. We haven't had any issues with our Can Am so far. Not sure if you've ever seen this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKFry8WBZsixaNY.html Shows the Kodiak performing with diff lock on! Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice Cubbee and CK I really appreciate it! I took the diff lock into consideration and did some research on every model and decided on the 2019 Kodiak 700 for $6,999 US! Yamaha is the closest dealer to me and I found out for $325 I can buy a kit that will give the Kodiak 700 full 4 wheel diff lock! For the price I won't complain one bit.....My next step is custom wheels 27in Zillas a winch and a snow plow.

It's hard to beat a true mid sized atv like the Yamaha Kodiak 450 these days...I miss the Yamaha Big Bear with foot shift actually. Suzuki isn't doing much for new models anymore as they have a true mid size with the good old Eiger/King Quad 400 available in foot shift or CVT,,but only a straight axle model unfortunately. At least Suzuki's CVT system is very similar to Yamaha utilizing a centrifugal clutch and constant belt tension with real engine braking. Too many manufacturers put a smaller engine into a full size chassis instead. To me that isn't something I would want to purchase. I am happy to see the Yamaha is bringing back the Kodiak nameplate to the US made Yamaha for 2018!! They even did some chassis refinements for the Kodiak as well. Like slightly wider, and the best part all atvs should have which is the third headlight on the handlebars!! Try plowing snow without one...lol! Oh man you are going to have to get CK a new Grizzly if Yamaha decides to use their new parallel twin 847cc engine from the Wolverine SXS and they put it in the Grizzly ATV.....Please Yamaha,,I will write the check or hand you the cash, or put it on a card...hahaha! It would make a great comparison to your Can Am 1000. Less power I am sure, but with Yamaha's long term reliability and top quality made reputation...It should be very interesting if they build it.

I would and did. I have a 2008 450 grizzly with diff lock and I just purchased he new 450 without it. The 2008 grizzly has just over 10000 km on it. I can’t think of a time where Diff lock would have prevented me from being stuck or where it ever got me unstuck. Diff lock doesn’t do shit when your bottomed out in deep ruts!
