Yamaha Grizzly 700 vs. Can-Am Outlander 500 xt

Спорт

For those who think their yamaha rules all! This is a pull test between a 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700 EFI and a 2008 Can-Am Outlander 500 XT...YES a 700 vs. 500. This is the real deal!

The main reason the can am won was because it weighs a lot more than the grizzly. The grizzly has plenty of power! watch the beginning when they just start the can am doesn't really start of fast and the grizzly is spinning the whole time. V-twin engines are heavy! The can am weighs 713 lbs. and the Yamaha grizzly 648 lbs. that's a 65 lb. difference. once the grizzly started spinning he was done for. try this same test but put more weight on the grizzly and I think you will be surprised. Also Yamahas are a lot more reliable and don't break down as much as can am and Polaris!

Was just about to comment about that. Popular tactic between the truck tug-o-wars. The fella on the Grizz got on that gas pretty good from launch and the Can gracefully pulled off after the spin. I'm a big fan of both manufactures as both make a very capable quad, but this specific test has too many unequal variables. Damn nice machines though!

FYI the Can-Am 500cc and the Grizz 700cc were lined up in a drag and the Grizz only inched on it. Pony wise the Can-Am are at the top of the heap. AGAIN, this is in stock form not with all your aftermarkets. I personally guarntee that no stock unit will be able to handle the Can-Am 800cc engine! Anyone who has ridden or owned a multitude of units knows that Can-Am is the best PLEASURE riding ATV out there. I mean who would argue with a company that also makes jets, boats, high speed rails..

I like both of them. Anything that gets you into the back country has a chance to break down and even more when you run it through deep mud and launching them into god knows where. If your gentle with your machine it will last a life time. I am a owner of a Polaris 450, Arctic cat 500 and Can-am 1000 and each of these machines is a pleasure to ride and work with. Also aftermarket parts will always be stronger than anything that comes stock with these machines but you have to break it first in order to upgrade them.

I own a Grizzly 700 and my buddy owns a Can-Am Both are excellent rides. Weve both ridden eachothers and love them both. The Can-Am does have a little more top end and have a little more torque, but look at the size differance in the motors a little extra goes along ways. Those tires that are on the Grizzly in this video are the ones I had on mine which are ok but you can get way more ride if you swap in for a really agressive tire that is wider like BKT's, or Bridgestone XXTREME ATV Mud Hooks.

We beat the crap out of it, head lights are busted, the guards are bent in and the gear selector is so worn in the groves for each gear select is gone and has cut half into the handle, but yet it keeps on going.

@stoichiometric If the quad is at high idle (or rev what ever you prefer) and is still being pulled backward while trying to move forward. That means the transmission is either going or the clutch is slipping (or belt depending on the model). Basically if it doesn't have to power to move the other quad it's weak.

I'm loyal to neither machine, but I would like to see a second pull off, with both riders SLOWLY adding throttle until one begins to pull the other. The Yamaha rider immediately applied full throttle while the other guy was still holding the brake, this broke the wheels loose causing the coefficient of friction to go down. It may not have been the deciding factor, but it DEFINITELY makes a difference.

(I am neither a can-am nor a grizzly man so not being biased) The tires on the grizzly are much thinner in width which is weight displacement. The wider tires had more tire to surface than the grizzly did. Counter the weight from the heavy Can-am and add the same tires to both bikes. Now, we have ourselves a game of tug of war! Would actually like to see this scenario.

For you to get the same equipment on a Yama you would have to spend an additional $900-1200. And you still would not have the ponies that a Can-Am does. Look at the recent posts. As a grizzly owner, I know that when the front Diff is locked (as is stated in the description), the Grizzly is electronically limited due to the unsafe nature of fast driving with a fully locked diff. In a test like this, it will be bouncing off the rev limiter. This will cut power immensely. Bad set up.

@atvman101 it doesn't matter if the tires are stock, the tires on the grizzly have less grip because they have less surface area with Their tires. The can-am has more surface area, witch enables it to get better grip on the road. It's all about grip in this situation.

guys it also has to do with who started first......you see the guy on the right elevates his speed....creating high ammounts of energy on the chain making it very strong to pull back....the guy on the left was a little bit late so he realized he was being pulled back a little so he dumped his gas....making it even harder to pull the other guy back because the other guy no has all the gripp.....so the left guy dumping the gas also being pulled back a little he lost all his friction.......rewatch.

Of these two quads (the Outlander 500 and Grizzly 700), the Grizzly is definitely the more powerful ATV. Even overall, Arctic Cat has Can-Am beat for the most power with their Thundercat 1000 H2.

Thanks for the vid, now I know which ATV will sink to the bottom of every mud hole ( the heavy ass Canned Spam) and which ATV will go right across the top ( the Grizz). Oh and good luck lifting either end of that lead sled out of the muck by yourself.

the tire issues that some people are arguing are not even close to correct. on dirt or in mud, the can-ams tires are better because the paddle their way through. however, on pavement, there is nothing to paddle through, and those big treads just lift the quad off the ground. on pavement, traction boils down to friction, and the more rubber on the ground, the more friction, and in this case the yamaha has the advantage.
