@@JoseMiranda-rh9fp there's a brand new Yamaha DX1 listed for $149,000 pounds it's probably the among the rarest and probably the only one that's probably in either brand new condition or almost new condition. Certainly the most expensive and they're not definitely not going down in value they're only going up in value. They're worth a lot now because it was only 140 made and yes they were handmade too. Anyways good luck in finding one it took me 5 months to search worldwide on the internet back and November of 2001 I searched all over the globe I called up all sorts of universities music stores you name it until I finally got mine. At that time when I was looking 21 years ago I was able to locate about seven of them and I could have bought another one in Las Vegas for $900 after I just bought my first one. I could have bought the second one but I just didn't have the room for the second one. So I told someone else about that one they bought it and then they sold it to somebody else. I've known people that have owned a DX1 then they sold them and then they regretted it to go go buy another one and pay more money for it. I would never sell my DX1 never, too much value and too much to remember when I bought it. It would love at first sight I recommend you look for one it will take time to find one I've seen a couple on eBay within the last 14 years the others I saw on there were fake listings.

I wish Yamaha would stop piddling around and give the synth world what it really wants. A modern FM synth with a more user friendly interface. FULL SIZED KEYS. And at least knobs to control attack and decay. like the Volca FM has. Onboard chorus and unison and 16 note poly. Do it Yamaha do it NOW.

You can tweak this thing to death and come out with beautiful, otherworldly sounds. It just takes patience and a lot of digging into the architecture to discover! I got a lot of amazing sounds out of a 4-Operator DX-9 synth! The possibilities are endless! The DX series synths from Yamaha hold a wealth of secrets! You simply have to dive into it to find them!

That sounded more like a wash of subtractive analog. Although DX7II can do very convincing analog type strings in its dual-mode, the sound in this video would indicate far more. PCM based synth with deep synth engine could do that too. It doesn't matter though. I just enjoy looking at the DX-series design. Lets feast our eyes on those true musical instruments. I hoping the best for Reface, but in current market synth manufacturers are unlikely to push big sales numbers for more than $500 a unit. So we get what market pays for. I believe that DX7 or DX7II beg for reissues. Such fantastic instruments. Unfortunately I seem to be totally alone in this opinion.

You are not alone my friend. Personally I wish Yamaha would re issue the DX7 in the sleek thin body of the DX11 with an extended back like the Korg DSS-1, leave the 6 OP engine intact and just add high end effects (which is what the DX7II should’ve been)

The irony of not shutting production since they’ve highly profited from the DX couldn’t appreciate accomplishing such a milestone ... hence no evolution into creation of CS1x/AN1x/SY99 in the 90’s 🤷🏽‍♂️

The instrument that made 80's music suck even more! Mine's a DX7, date code on the original battery was 1983 when I changed it. It still lives proudly in my stack, lovely feeling keybed makes it a fine MIDI controller. Dexed is a life saver: patch librarian, control surface, and damn fine emulator.

Yunneck It could be FM sounds in the video. I got sounds like that from my DX-7 when I started programming it. It sounds like there is some reverb added. The stereo nature of the sound could indicate it's either a DX-1, DX5, or a DX7II.

I am just learning about the DX series. I see all the different numbers of DXs so which one was the top one?Like the one that had all the features of the previous model and added features. is it the DX1? cause everyone always talk about the DX7. also, what is the difference between the DX7 II D, the DX7 II FD and the DX7 S. thanks.

  • @DuroSamples

DX7 was the Their pinnacle Synth and most used in pop music, DX7II was 2 in one, then it came with (FD) Floppy Disc drive, DX7S which I never used was single timber.

Actual, the DX1 is two DX7's in one. But with better editting overview. The DX7-II, has some better electronics, but you can't go wrong with either one. Good luck and enjoy.

I had the DX7 and DX7II, but they had a problem as their keyboard and sound engine could only transmit and receive midi volume levels up to 100. If it got over 100 they produced a slightly overdriven sound. So I sold them and bought a TX802 which is the DX7II as a rack module. To me it´s the best DX synth for a reasonable price. And I still use it
