Wondering if this comparison holds for the YAS-480 as well. Especially as a beginner, does the E1 custom neck limit my sound with the increased volume of air needed? Especially in sterling.

Thinking similar results on YAS-480, or not? I would go with the sterling but as a beginner I wonder if I can generate the sound tone and clarity with limited ability. What do y’all say?

How does the unlacquered compare?

We find the unlacquered is very similar to the standard lacquer. There is a slight difference, perhaps the sound is a little rougher or more textured but it's very subtle. The unlacquered difference only really starts to become noticeable when you have the whole crook and body in unlacquered vs lacquer in our opinion.

Arguably it's a little darker or heavier sounding as there are multiple layers of lacquer rather than the 'thinner' clear lacquer, but it's very similar.
