A tender was opened by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality (KBB) for the purchase of 200 compressed natural gas-powered buses on 10.02.2015.
As a result of the 31.840.000€ contract signed with Karsan Otomotiv, the company that won the tender on 09.03.2015, BredaMenarinibus licensed 200 Mercedes-Benz CNG-powered Avancity+ L buses were produced for Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality at the Karsan factory in Bursa, Turkey.
While the delivery was continuing, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality requested a 20% work increase within the frame of the work increase article of the contract. With the additional request, the number of buses to be delivered to the municipality reached 240 and the total revenue to be earned from the aforementioned tender reached 38,208,000€.
Avancity+ L CNG buses of UlaşımPark were given body numbers between 201 and 379 when they were put into service, and body numbers between 380 and 440 were assigned to those of KBB.
61 Avancity + L CNG buses operated by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality were transferred to the UlaşımPark fleet on 11.01.2018.
The Avancity + L CNG buses, which were put into service in 2015, are the next generation of the BredaMenarinibus Avancity LU Exobus CNG buses with Monocar 240 chassis purchased by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in 2009 from Bologna, Italy. They were produced after the strategic partnership agreement signed between Karsan and BredaMenarinibus on 02.09.2010.
