Yakuza Zero Real Life Comparison - Sotenbori
Фильм және анимация
Yakuza Zero's world is heavily inspired by real life locales. Here I showcase the similarities and real life areas that Sotenbori is based off.
If you haven't heard of this game, check it out! It's about the closest thing we have to a 'Japan simulator', albeit with a Yakuza focus. Lot's of great 'slice of life' mini games however, and it would be extremely nostalgic for anyone with a history in Japan.

wow they made Sotenbori from yakuza 0 in real life
Yakuza games have proven that you dont need large maps to make your game interesting. Its the quality of the map that matters. Later Assassins' Creed titles may have the whole city of London, Paris, or ancient Egypt and Greece but it lacks the lived in feel that the Yakuza games have. Walking around in Sotenbori and Kamurocho in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 2 makes me feel as if I am having a night out exploring the city. This is especially heartfelt during the pandemic when people hardly ever goes out.

I felt the same way playing Yakuza 0 during quarantine. I wanted to go out but couldn't, so I wandered around Kamurocho and Sotenburi, eating delicious food and singing karaoke. It was a pretty good virtual night out.
man, this makes me appreciates yakuza map even more. like most of the time we're just sprinting all over the place doing substories and main quests. but this video kinda makes me appreciates the team who made it based off real location

The rest of the Don Quixote street actually is bustling at night with hostess clubs and bars.
Man it's super cool that in Yakuza Kiwami 2 they updated the map so the footpath that runs along the water becomes more time accurate.
Wow cool they made Sotenbori from the game into a real-life city!
You should compare it with Kiwami 2(there's a demo of Sotonbori in the Japanese Playstation store). It's even better

I just started playing Kiwami 2 and it's quite unsettling. I went to Japan at the end of 2018 for a couple of weeks and intentionally made my way to Osaka. For example the Don Quijote store dual entrance and exit onto the walkway next to the river was easily spot on, like I was reliving what I did not so long ago. And it's not this alone, but the look and feel just took me back. I also went to Osaka castle will be very curious to see how this compares.

dude yakuza teaches you to be able to navigate kamurocho and sotenbori by heart
I remember going to dotenbori when i was in japan a few years back for school with my host family. I played yakuza 0 after going and i remember the giant crab and the running man but i had no idea the roads were flipped lmao. good video non the less
What a wonderfully chill and well presented video. Thank you for making this. I was really curious to see how it matched with its real life equivalent 🥰
Is Club Sunshine there?
What about the Grand and Odyssey?

great video! I went to the real-life location a long time ago with my family on a tour, and even ate at that dragon-ramen shop. but I barely remember Japan though, and would love to check these places out again once i've finished my run of Y0
great video well edited. i would like it if you made on Fukuoka or one of the other cities in the yakuza series
Great video!
When I was in Osaka, I stayed in the Namba area (not sure if I spelled that right) just a couple blocks from the Dotonburi area you show in this video. I was amazed how much this area looked like the game.

I stayed in the Abeno Ward but made my way up there as well. It's kind of unsettling because it messed with me while playing Kiwami 2.
Great video! ^_^
really weirdly just remembered your channel lol. must have watched your vlogs like 5 or 6 years ago :o
Where is Mr Libido
Me sprinting around in sotenbori in the game to get to a destination quicker but the NPC’s aren’t even looking at me or surprised meanwhile in irl…….. 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
yooooo they made yakuza into a real thing lmao
i’ve been to dotonbori before playing yakuza 0 so i was blown away seeing it
HOLY SHET DUDE SOTENBORI
Well the story takes place at the 80's so some stores might have switched locations like Don Quijote which now sits close to the river.
Damn he didn't show what was in the place of the Grand.
So imagined there is actual people breakdancing on the bridge...
majima : that place is a prison
Oh my god Yakuza 0 was such a popular game they made kamurocho and sotembori into a real place
One thing that I also noticed was the clown with the drum, Kuidaore. He’s not too far from the crab. When I saw that in game, I was like damn that’s real.
3:30 oh lawd he coming
is the takoyaki still piping hot?
nice
I think it would be the Best with Yakuza 7 now Cause its in either 2019 or 2020 i think
In Kiwami 2 the Don Quijote has a ferris wheel built into the building. Is there a Don Quijote with an amusement park ride builtin else where in Japan?
The Glico Man sign has been there since 1935 (updated several times since then), so it's more likely an issue of not having the rights to use it instead of it not being there in the 1980s.
Good lord those streets are PACKED
@1:22 is homie giving out free hugs to japanese girls?
You could use Like a Dragon Gaiden to compare these now.
Cool video! Any chance of some updates for Yakuza 6 or Kiwami 2?
It's dotonbori in Osaka
1988 vs 2006 vs 2012

Come back and review yakuza 5/6 maps 🙏🏻
What’s interesting is. There is a Family Mart in each corner in real life.
I traveled there once, a big guy came and took all of my money, he was tough.
i think you shouldve used 5 to compare since it is set in 2011 and so it would be more similar
Did you see an guy in a grey suit tossing some punks into the river?
Where's the grand cabaret?
Where is bed of styx
Its more accurate in yakuza 5 for the real life sotenbori.
Alright lala?
* cough cough* KIRYU-CHAN
WHERE IS THE 3 METER GUY THOUGH
What about area around Club Sunshine?
Where's the underground arena
Hey they made sotenbori a real thing
Just play kiwami 2 it also has sotenbori and it’s updated
Where’s the Cabaret Grand?
Did u get a chance to play Yakuza 6?
Wouldn't Yakuza 5 or 6 be a better comparison?
2:27 Is Raiden in Yakuza Zero?
Where are the Bookers?
