(Not so) fun fact: Actually, in the Japanese version the takoyaki lady just said something along the line of "Well isn't he kind/sweet?" And then Makoto said, "Yeah he sure is" Which shocked Majima because probably no one ever said that he's a good guy. The "he's a keeper" thing is purely the English localization team trying to spice things up.

@@kelseycarter7338 That majima is still there. He's not completely crazy that it takes over him. Rather he uses it as a facade or mask. The reason we know he's in control is cause whenever he gets serious or drops the kansai dialect. That's the real, yakuza 0 majima we knew and played as. He only ever shows it to people close like kiryu saejima and daigo.

kiki Lovely Following on the comment before me. Exactly. That's why Majima said at the end of 0 *SPOILERS* To treat her right and make her happy. Something along those lines because I haven't played 0 in years tbh.

You can tell near the end that he's practically moments away from shedding tears. For all the "mad dog" side of him has helped Majima cope with his inner struggles, at the end of the day, it's just a carefully maintained persona... and it's moments like this where you sense the real Goro resurface, even if only for a fleeting moment.

SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T PLAY YAKUZA 0. I couldn't help crying with the death of Tachibana, the worst thing is that they rub his death on your damn face, Kiryu cries for the first time for someone, and when it couldn't get worse... Makoto arrives and discovers that his brother died. He couldn't stop crying. Sorry if my english is bad.

As much as I enjoy his banshee screaming, I love the subtle switch to a more serious tone at the last 'i love you' chorus and the very last line... man, the guy still has it in him

Behind all the craziness, he still never got over that loss. Dude still loves Makoto but knows he can't be with her The Mad Dog is his way of coping with that knowledge. He wants to make himself believe he isnt meant to have a normal life. Luckily, Yakuza 6 makes Majima into a more cool headed guy since he has a purpose

@@cleverman383 I think Majima was more originally might to be like Japanese Joker (even got Mark Hamill who voice Joker in English dub in first game) and do remember first two game was writing by original writer While Yakuza 3 and onwards was done by different writer who maybe realized how much potential he had

I'm still learning Japanese and Majima's inflections make things kinda difficult but I can definitely tell the chorus is something like "If you're happy, it's okay" and that just makes me very upset I'm gonna go cry now

Actually the one who made the Yakuza franchise, was the co maker of shenmue and shenmue to be fair didn't feel dead for it's time. Like if you play the first Yakuza game, you will feel it's dead, it ain't. It's just outdated while shenmue 3 is trash that's true. It does feel soulless but not the old two games especially 2

I've read somewhere that the studio is considering making a Yakuza game focusing on Majima solely now that Kiryu is no longer the protagonist. They said that the reason for it is because Majima exploded in popularity after 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2. I think that'd be a perfect way to finally give the guy some closure in his sad life.

I know it's a long shot but that's the idea of the karaoke songs. Hell, in Yakuza 5 Kiryu is reminiscing about the dog in the orphanage and Saejima about Sodachi.

That's the irony of this song choice. Majima as a comedic character gets probably the most serious song in the game besides Tonight by Kiryu.

Zotjad Yumi was only with Jingu because she couldn’t remember/ wait for Kiryuu to come back. Mirei was probably used as a quick fix up for empty Majima at the time

You're allowed to love multiple people. Heck, Majima without Mirei in his life had already reasoned that he couldn't be with Makoto. Anyway he was with Mirei sometime between 0 and Kiwami.

You're all wrong bro Mirei and majima has married when mirei about 18 years old ,and in the yakuza 5, mirei 35 old That means mirei & majima have been married before yakuza 0

wisnu pramana that’s actually wrong Mirei was born in 1974 meaning she was 10 years his junior since Majima was born in 64. She married him when she barely turned 18, so that means Majima was 28 this means they married in 1992 4 years after the events of 0.

Majima is an amazing character. This song makes me cry. I love how you can see just Goro Majima and not, "The Mad Dog" when he sings this. He may be a bit crazy, but he can never fully suppress the real majima. It's heartbreaking.

The worst part is... I can see Goro doing this kind of regularly.

Its one of these moments his subordinates just wonder what he is doing, but everyone is too shit your pants terrified to question why he is singing a love song and seems to be drowning in nostalgia.

Wow, I never thought the karaoke mini game would give me the feels. Goddamn this series lol.

Those Makoto scenes made these extra chapters worth playing.

I kind of wish that Majima would only sing this song this way when he's with people and sing the song like Yakuza 0 Majima when he's alone.

This makes Yakuza 0 feel more rewarding and tearful when you play as Majima

They are, indeed. Even Kiryu’s track was depressing when they put flashbacks of Nishiki and two other people close to him. Hell, you can even still feel Kiryu’s pain in some parts of Kiwami 2 like him revisiting Serena a year later. For these 2 yakuzas, Kiryu just wishes he could rewind and go back where his family members are still alive while Majima wishes he had a normal life with Makoto so he can keep her out of danger in case another yakuza or another villain uses her as a shield or lure.

The fact that I understood why majima left makoto was after the karaoke in kiwami 2 means that every yakuza game hides a story in the karaoke minigame

Yakuza 0 just made this absolutely heartbreaking. Yet he's still trying to maintain the crazy facade, and the harder he tries, the more he hurts inside.

What i find sad is Majima attempts to sing everything comically at first. But by the ending chorus he cant do it anymore and starts to sing perfectly. Thinking of makato forces the "mad dog" personality to drop as he cant take this song and all hes done with makoto as a joke. He wants to keep the memories as he remembers them

So i realized the howls in this could be kind of interpreted as majima crying. Poor man

I love how in the game version it's "I'm fine if you forget me" but in the full song he breaks into a screaming rant and basically says "PLEASE DON'T FORGET ME.... Is what I truly wanna say but forget about that"
